About FalconWizard
With over 15+ years of TTRGP experience, I am someone who is enthusiastic about running games for folks! I am currently the co-host and founder of The QueerXP actual play podcast, where we have run close to 100 indie TTRPGs over the course of the show. I love telling stories with people and having a chance to explore complicated themes and make difficult choices through the game. I have run everything from one-shot adventures to multi-year campaigns with friends. I believe coming to the table should be a safe and fun experience for all players, which informs my GM style.

I got started GMing...
Over a decade ago, as I realized the biggest barrier to playing TTRPGs was finding someone willing to learn and run them, so I started running things for my friends!
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Monster of the Week - For the horror vibes Moonlight on Roseville Beach - For the queer horror vibes SLAYERS - For the slaying vibes
My favorite books are
Darker Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee
How FalconWizard runs games
I have been GM'ing almost as long as I've been playing games, because I learned quickly that in order to make games happen, someone had to step up and GM them. I love running games that focus on roleplaying, big emotional moments, and just overall having a good time. I create space for people to explore a variety of characters, themes, and gameplay styles. I adapt to my GM'ing to the needs of the table, but I take things like safety tools, respect, and supporting one another very seriously as a GM. If there is a system you're interested in playing, I am always open to learning and exploring systems I have not previously run. Feel free to reach out if there is something you want to play that's not on my list, and we can figure out if it is something that would be in my wheelhouse!

I prep by
Spending time in the session zero to where the players want to have the game go. Building plot points around the themes they want to experience and finding ways to make sure everyone will have time to shine.
My games focus on...
- The relationships between characters - Players contributing to the overall world building - Thinking creatively about ways to solve a problem that't not exclusively combat
Rules are...
Great guidelines for running a game, but they can (and usually should) be adapted to the group and how they're hoping to experience the game.
FalconWizard's ideal table
My ideal table is one where everyone comes together to tell the story. Players should be involved in creating some of the world, the NPCs, etc. Humor is a huge underlying aspect of my games. Whether they're intense horror or big emotional games, I think humor is important to all stories. I generally do not do prolonged, massive combat sessions with complicated rules (D&D / Pathfinder / etc.). Combat is often part of games I run, but it is rarely the focus of the game.

I am for a vibe that's...
Here to have a fun time telling a wild story.
I love it when a player
says, "Okay, I have this idea, and it might be a little out there..." I love nothing more than big swings from players!
