About Emy

Hello~! You can call me Emy, I'm a Brazilian transfem GM adding up to 10+ years of experience! I started off with 5e and switched over to Pf2e ever since the playtest came out, and now I'm a huge advocate for the system! I speak fluent Portuguese and English, good Japanese and with a little effort I can go back to being almost-fluent in Spanish. I've also lived in Japan for a year, during which I GMed for a completely international group, in English! I was the always GM for a while, but started teaching and incentivizing my players to GM as well, so now I play as many groups as I GM (currently on 6 concurrent groups)! I love roleplaying, be it PCs or NPCs, and exploring the moral ramifications of actions. My favorite part of being a GM is developing settings and making permanent changes to the worlds with my players. My favorite part of being a player is setting up a character arc for my character with the GM and see them evolve as they go through the hurdles the GM prepared.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Patient. I have taught many beginners, and explained classes and rules too many times to count. Descriptive. I try to make my scenes and dialogue immersive and well-crafted, to pull people in. Enthused. I play and chat with a smile, and am always open to off-session talks about anything.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing or being assistant GM... Or playing some random indie roguelike I found... Or searching for cute anime girls online... Or reading some paper about something interesting... Or having an anxiety attack! All of them work!

How Emy runs games

I love roleplaying, be it PCs or NPCs, and exploring the moral ramifications of actions. I think the voices I do are mid, but I try and have been praised for them >.> My favorite part of being a GM is developing settings and making permanent changes to the worlds with my players. I focus less on combats, since I like to make my combats meaningful mechanically and thematically, but the ones I do incentivize versatility and quick thinking. I like giving every action and description weight, describing attacks so combat feels real, and rooms and corridors so the set feels alive. If you want to roll the dice and describe how epically your character does their actions, go for it! If you don't feel comfortable, I'll gladly fill in the details!

My games focus on...

Collaborative, dramatic storytelling. I play RPGs to build a narrative with my players. One structured to some extent, but shaped by their choices and actions. I want to know each character's thoughts, feelings, morality, and how they deal with difficult choices and situations, even in combat.

Rules are...

Important, but also not law. We want a good, reasonably balanced system to have fun, but we don't want the system to step on our toes all the time. You first understand the rules, to then have properly thought out and tested criticism and proposed changes for each setting.

Emy's ideal table

We all have our style and preferences, so if you want to spend your hard-earned money with me, I'd like you to know what you're getting: My table is a great fit for you if: - You enjoy a narrative-first approach, where the story and character development are central, without sacrificing the tactical crunch of combat; - You want to see a world that reacts to your actions, where your choices have a tangible impact on the story and the opinions of NPCs around you; - You love it when that feat you picked at level 2 for flavor becomes a meaningful and useful part of your character's journey; - You're looking to tell a story *with* your GM, actively collaborating to build a shared narrative; - You value a friendly, safe, inclusive, and collaborative environment, free from judgment or prejudice. We might not be the best match if you're looking for: - A style where every session always advances the main storyline, and you might find a laid-back session dedicated to character development or simple roleplaying to be less engaging; - A primarily combat-driven or tactical experience where character optimization and winning combat encounters are the primary goals; - A preference for combat that is fast and tactical, prioritizing quick mechanical resolution over detailed, moment-to-moment descriptions of actions.

I love it when a player

When the players take the reins of the session and tell *their* story. When a player: - has a creative use for a spell, skill, or feat. - reflavors their abilities and describes why their fireball is different than all others. - gives me ideas on how to use their bg in the story. - has fun :3

I think it's a red flag when players...

Think their character, or the story they want to tell, is more important than the rest of the group and the game's story. We aren't here to solo-play, we are a group and a party and a good story told by everyone is just better. Involve others in your arcs, make the campaign's encounters part of it.

I think min/maxing...

Is fun if the game is about it. There's oneshots, and munchkin, and combat-focused campaigns, where minmaxing and fighting the GM is par for the course. I, myself, love me some dpr graphs. But isn't appropriate everywhere. If one character takes the spotlight and makes the combat all about them, NG
