About DwarfLord
So far, I have been playing D&D, DMing games at home, and playing with friends on Roll20 and Discord. I have ran games with D&D5e, Candela, and Daggerheart. Mainly, I used pre-made adventure books, but I have also ran a few Homebrew sessions using the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. I love being creative and collaborating on interesting ideas with roleplaying games. Let's tell some fantastic stories together!

I became a GM because
I love to play games! I have played off and on since the 90s. I was the only one in my circle of friends and family who was interested in running games. I have been the forever DM in my group since 2022.
My favorite shows/movies are
Sci-fi and Fantasy of course. The Labyrinth, Howls Moving Castle, How to Train Your Dragon, Total Recall for just a few of my favorite movies. The Hobbit is my all time favorite book. I like The Dresden Files, and So You Want to be a Gamemaster as well.

Reading books to improve my games, watching YouTube videos like Critical Role, Bob the World Builder, and the Why Files. I do a little gardening and love on my Dogs.
How DwarfLord runs games
I love to roleplay! Combat is something I enjoy as part of my games. Occasionally I create custom NPCs to interact with, and I also enjoy giving them their own voices. One of my favorite things I came up with is a magic shop that sells gumballs with 20 different magical effects depending on the color you get!

Reading up on monsters, writing an outline of a story, and using the player’s character backgrounds for inspiration.
When it comes to voices
I try to picture the character, and give them a voice with someone I know, or a character who is similar. For example, I pictured Bavlorna from The Wild Beyond the Witchlight to have a voice like my grandma who had a thick, southern, Louisiana accent.

Surprises me and does something epic. I do my best to roll with it and include their ideas.
I think min/maxing...
Min/maxing is ok sometimes. My main focus is to make sure everyone is having fun. I try to make encounters challenging and satisfying, but even if it winds up being easy for the players, it’s ok. In the end, all that matters is that we’re all having a good time.
