About Robert
Hi, I’m Robert — a mid-thirties opera singer based in Southern California. I’ve always admired tabletop RPGs from afar, but like many others, I truly fell into the hobby during the pandemic. Since then, my wife and I have played and run a wide variety of games, and what began as a creative outlet quickly became a passion I’m excited to share with more people. By day, I serve on the executive board — and as one of only three employees — of a small nonprofit opera company. That unique blend of artistic collaboration and real-world logistics gives me a deep appreciation for storytelling, ensemble work, and the value of everyone's time. I know how hard it can be to carve out space for creativity, and I strive to make every game night feel worth showing up for. Currently, I run X-Crawl Classics (as well as the other Goodman Games products), as well as D&D 5E, blending theatrical flair with strong player engagement. Whether you’re stepping into your first dungeon or looking for a fresh, story-rich experience, I aim to create a welcoming, flexible space where everyone gets their moment in the spotlight — with just the right amount of drama.

helping run a non-profit opera company. Day to day I write grants, but I am involved with every production in a production or performance capacity. Recently I was the music director for our production of 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals' as well as the lead tenor in "'Cold Sassy Tree'
How Robert runs games
I love running published modules — especially those from Goodman Games like Dungeon Crawl Classics and X-crawl. These adventures are packed with flavor, randomness, and just the right amount of chaos, which makes every session feel alive and unpredictable. My favorite way to run is through short, choice-driven capsule campaigns: modular arcs that we build out together based on what excites you as players. Expect high-energy sessions where your decisions matter, consequences are real, and the world reacts. I embrace the gonzo charm of DCC’s wild magic, lethal encounters, and swingy dice. Roleplay is always welcome and encouraged, but you don’t need to be a theater kid to have fun at my table — just bring a character idea and a willingness to dive in. Combat tends to be fast, tense, and tactical, but I don’t run a table that punishes creativity — clever plans and bold moves will always get a shot. Whether we’re crawling through a dungeon or tearing up a fantasy arena in X-crawl, my goal is to give you a game that respects your time and leaves you talking about it afterward.
Robert's ideal table
My table is all about light-hearted camaraderie, collaborative storytelling, and shared fun. I strive to create a space where players feel safe, respected, and free to explore their characters—whether that means diving deep into roleplay, goofing off with in-character jokes, or trying wild, creative ideas. Everyone has a voice at the table, and I work to ensure that the spotlight is shared and that all players feel empowered to shape the story alongside me. My games are player-driven, meaning I adapt to your choices and support your ideas rather than railroading you down a fixed path. I encourage creativity, teamwork, and a spirit of “yes, and”—whether we’re navigating dungeon traps, unraveling character backstories, or just having a laugh over shenanigans.
