About Mason
I started DMing 5 years ago for my friends because we all wanted to learn how to play DND, and the person who was going to teach us had to leave. I have been our group's Permanent DM ever since and I've loved every single minute of it. I especially love helping people learn the game so no worries whether you're new or experienced. I have homebrewed worlds and campaigns in the past, but I really enjoy premade Adventure Books as well. Come play an amazing game while we make a story together with memories we'll hang onto forever.

I became a GM because
I've always loved Collaborative story telling; I was a theater kid through-and-through until I graduated. I had been missing an creative outlet and when I first got introduced to DND, I was immediately hooked. I started as a player and quickly moved to DMing and have been running games ever since.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
"Receptive" to how they are feeling in the game and to what they want out of the game. "Unpredictable" as far as story twists and game situations go, I like to keep players on the edge of their seats. "Accommodating" to make adjustments as needed to make sure everyone continues loving the game!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Either at work, cooking, or playing a guitar or watching tv with my pets and partner. In recent years DnD has been my #1 relaxing time, but as we all know you can't do it all-day everyday, so my other hobbies help a lot with destressing too.
How Mason runs games
My games are equal parts roleplay and combat, but mostly I curate the game to the particular party I'm playing with so they'll always get a personalized experience tailored to their group. My games are always a safe space for anyone and I take boundaries/respect for other players very seriously. !!!NO PVP!!! I find that combat is the most engaging when it's a split between the player's power-fantasy and tactical puzzles that need to be solved with a characters wits as much as with brute force. Every character is different and I like finding ways for everyone's strengths to come through in battle. Creating NPC's and populating worlds with deep and interesting people that players can interact with and build off of is one of my favorite parts of GMing. A lot of people warn against Sandbox-like worlds with TTRPG's but I see it as a fun challenge.

I prep by
Building out a world that is dynamic and curating encounters to the specific heroes (or villains) the players choose to be so it feels like they belong there.
My games focus on...
The immersion and enjoyment of myself and the players at my table. DnD, and all TTRPG's are first and foremost a game that is meant to be enjoyed. I want to take a journey with the players where we make a story together that we'll be able to talk about for years to come.
Rules are...
A good reference to make sure everything stays fair and fun for everyone. However, since there are infinite stories to tell, sometimes the rules get in the way of the fun rather than supporting it, so The Rule Of Cool also has a place at my table.
Mason's ideal table
My tables are easy going and light-hearted but action focused. If you like to interrupt a BBEG's monologue with a "deez nuts" joke then you will love this table. It is equally likely for you to shed tears of laughter as tears of sadness when you play my games. I want to show you the world I've built and see what you do in it.

I love it when a player
Dives into a monologue with their character that causes the table to fall silent. I love when a player gets into the descriptions of how their short sword pierces the Gnolls vitals. The deeper I can encourage that immersion, the happier I am.
I think metagaming...
Takes away from the fun of the game. You are playing as a character, not yourself, so what's the fun in using knowledge that your character wouldn't have, or taking actions they wouldn't take. In this game, you can do ANYTHING, but making the reasons you do things character driven adds a lot of fun
I think min/maxing...
Is perfectly fine. If that's the way you enjoy the game then I want you to min/max to your hearts content. Just know that in my games, powerful players come up against powerful foes.
