About Donald

I first picked up D&D in the 80's with B/X, AD&D 1e and 2e. After a 25 year break, I returned to the game in 2017 with 5e’s Out of the Abyss and have been running campaigns steadily for the past 8 years.

I’m a fan of shows like Dexter, The Pitt, and Mr. Robot — stories full of psychological tension and characters facing impossible choices inspire the way I run games. Of course, movies like The Princess Bride, The Lord of the Rings, Conan the Barbarian, and Labyrinth are foundational!

My favorite system of all Time is

Right now, Shadowdark is my preferred system. I love games where everyone can stay in that imaginative space, seeing the adventure unfold in their minds. When the rules get too heavy, it feels like solving a puzzle, and that makes it harder to imagine you're in another world.

How Donald runs games

I have years of experience running local D&D games, but I have only ran a handful of games online. We can learn together! Roleplay at my table is relaxed and fun — you don’t need to be a voice actor to enjoy yourself. I’ll use evocative descriptions and colorful characters, and all I ask is that you engage in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
