About me

Hi! I'm Natalie. I'm a big ol silly goose who loves to play DnD and DM for other silly gooses! I love to let people drive the story as much as I do and facilitate a safe space in which to have fun. Been a nerd forever, will be a nerd forever. I also happen to be a queer trans human and hope to make other queer, trans, and neurodivergent people feel safe and seen and able to express themselves through roleplay and exciting combat encounters with our DnD characters.

GM Style

I love to use the rules as a backstop, but I'm always a fan of rule of cool when it's well explained and creative. I *adore* rewarding creativity. I'm here to make a story with you all and provide a fun playground for role playing and smashy smash smash. If something might break the game, I tend to let the dice decide whether I should even entertain the idea, and go from there. Maybe yes, maybe no. Fluffernutter anyone? *devious cackle* I like to work with every one of my players to integrate their character in the world and bring their backstory into the pre-written content. Additionally, you'll get the chance to have some side-quests between adventures for you and you alone! Not every week will have one, BUT, they'll give you the opportunity to work on skills for more proficiencies, get some gold for yourself and the group, and even create a home base within the game for your team. Regarding the pre-written content: I tend to re-work prewritten content to directly address and counter the inherent racism/classism/sexism present in a good number of plot lines and side quests. "Goblins" are the pre-written enemy in Phandelver, and I simply do not like that. There's a whole host of beings who are contributing in various ways to the plot and all of them are as diverse in nature as real life beings - good, bad, and in-between. Most of my games will be pretty medium to high in combat as I do love that part of the game. I also enjoy role play and deeply enjoy immersing ourselves in the in-game universe, but individuals are welcome to lean in or lean out of the level of immersion in role play to their own liking. I go through a lot to bring everyone into the world as if we're right there, but I don't want to force anyone to BE their character and put on a Critical Role or Dimension 20 level performance into their character (though for the record I *adore* those humans and those shows) - I just want everyone to have fun, whatever it means to you! ...I mean, within reason, not all definitions of fun are fun to other people, but we have safety tools for that!! I will feel out what the group likes and doesn't like and continue to shape aspects of the game toward what we're all feeling within the group dynamic. All of that changes from group to group, so I don't have a "set" style - a lot will depend on you & your choices in game, and all player preferences. Lastly, I refuse to "punish" the group for making a fun decision...just...challenge you with some fun/interesting consequences! I *do* however have a hard line on certain subjects and refuse to let anyone do truly horrible things. Be kind to your fellow players and we'll be golden! ~DM Natalie
