About Dylan
I am an easy-going fantasy lover of all genres especially horror, I have only been a GM for over a year and have run a handful of one shots both pre-written and homebrew modules as well as a pre-written campaigns and an ongoing homebrew one as well. My experience lies within 2014 5e for D&D, but I am familiar with the 2024 rules as well and have no issues with using some rules from 2024 for 2014 and vice versa. I have been playing D&D for a few years but have been interested and learning about it all my life. I just never had an opportunity to play until the last couple years and would love to provide the ability for players to take part in an amazing game and even get new players who are in the same situation I was to experience D&D for the first time! I mostly run homebrewed settings and take a lot of pride in the games I create for players. One of my favorite parts about D&D and tabletop games as a whole is providing a story for players to evolve and make their own. I absolutely love watching my players come up with creative solutions to encounters and fully embrace my settings and stories being heavily influenced by player actions. I create games and worlds where player choice and actions really matter and heavily impact how the story plays out and enjoy mixing roleplay focused and combat focused encounters that influences the story as a whole. I also focus on player fun first and will tweak the game to fit each players priority and narrative wants from player feedback!

I got started GMing...
I found it fascinating that not only do I get to create a world for players to experience and explore but I also get to come up with a plot and watch how my players evolve it and turn it into their own story!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Fun, Mindful, Creative.
How Dylan runs games
I run a strong mix of combat and roleplay centered games creating moments for players to evolve the story and setting by interacting with directly with NPCs and making choices that have lasting effects on the world. Actions have consequences and whether it be in the parties' favor or in favor of the evils you are fighting lies entirely on how you as a team handle encounters and NPC interactions which will incite change that may not be seen for multiple sessions as the world is ever changing and evolving around your characters presence. I also run encounters that have weight and heavy story implications with a good sprinkle of fun encounters that although may not have a major impact on the overall narrative still are influenced by the evolving circumstances that the players directly effect. I also focus on your wants as a player in the game and will have discussions and reach out for ongoing feedback and playstyle wants to better craft a fun and engaging experience for everyone at the table. I also encourage creativity and teamwork heavily at the table and love seeing unique ways to resolve encounters. I prioritize a safe and fun environment for everyone new or experienced over everything else!

I deal with rules issues by...
Finding the quickest and most fair solution to keep the game going but to also keep things fair for all players involved. If needed I have no issues revisiting a ruling after the sessions and if needed correcting the story to reflect said ruling decision.
I prep by
Involving my players in the process, I use the stars and wish system to check in with my players after every session to craft a fun experience for all players at the table. I also focus on bringing my players backstories straight into the world and the campaign.
My games focus on...
Fun, my main focus for the table is first and foremost fun. I’m a huge fan of rule of cool and I love seeing players solve conflict in fun and creative ways. I also like to focus on real consequence in my games and work to have the players heavily influence the narrative and the world!
Dylan's ideal table
I run pretty roleplay heavy games where roleplay heavily impacts the story and will evolve it through player choice with combat encounters mixed in that hold plot relevance and weight to it. I am all about having fun and encouraging creativity, one of my favorite parts about this game is watching my players come up with a creative solution to the problems I place in front of them and using their resources and abilities to find their way out of it. The best fit for my table is someone who wants to have an impact on the story and the ever-changing events using roleplay and planning as well as engaging in combat when things get out of hand. I am all about creating an everchanging narrative where the players decisions bring real impact to the story and the world along with emotional decisions and consequences. My table is all about letting the players tell a story through their characters and make friends and enemies along the way (with the NPCs of course)!

I am for a vibe that's...
all about fun and creativity, at the end of the day D&D is all about having fun with a group of people and creating unforgettable stories and moments. There still will be gut retching and impactful decisions laced in my games and there is nothing better than seeing my players have a blast!
I love it when a player
comes up with creative solutions to solve problems and I find it super fun having my players get invested in their characters backstory and getting to create big payoff moments for their characters!
My table is not the place for...
bullying or harassment, we are all here to have fun and play an amazing game while doing it and I will not tolerate any hate towards other players or any shaming when it comes to learning or mistakes made in the game. I try to cultivate a safe space for players to feel comfortable and enjoyable.
