Pick me! Pick me! Did that work? I’m DM Gray, a seasoned professional game master with nearly 40 years of experience at running and playing RPGs. From the tender age of 11, I dove into Dungeons & Dragons with that beautiful red box (D&D Basic Set). Over the next decade, I experimented with nearly every game I could get my hands on. And like many a long-hair goth type, I got sucked into Vampire LARP and spent some time longer there than I care to admit. Video games, card games, war games, board games… you name it, I’ve screwed around with at some point or another. My primary goal is for you to have fun; about everything else needs to be balanced against that. I believe deeply in the delicate balance between narrative focus and player agency. I’m not above ignoring a rule or just calling it the rule of cool and walking away. Beyond my dope skills, I remain committed to creating inclusive and welcoming gaming space. I’m the father of five wonderfully diverse children, so inclusive values hold personal importance for me.

GM Style

I adapt nearly everything about my games to the actual players in my game. I aim for being funny and personable, both things are key to keeping everyone engaged. That being said, I find that long-term campaigns benefit from focusing on story and character development, while short-term or one-shot games are best served with puzzles, challenges, and combat. I generally appear on camera, though, as a way of helping make the space comfortable. The same is not required of you, though you’re obviously welcome.
