About Trusty Justin
Hi there, my name is Justin, I am a visual artist, comics creator and Dungeon Judge. I've played a ton of systems from TMNT to D&D. I have a preference towards some of the more old school systems, and am primarily looking to run Dungeon Crawl Classics, Mutant Crawl Classics or XCrawl. I've run D&D and DCC for friends and family for over a decade and am just dipping my toes into running games for the public. DCC organized play launches this year (2026), so I'm especially excited to start running some DCC organized play games with you. I am a total acolyte for the system and am happy to teach/welcome new players.

I became a GM because
It's my favorite way to play a TTRPG. I like teaching. I enjoy reading adventures and imagining how the players might try and solve it. I am always delighted to witness how differently it plays out once it's in the players' hands.
My favorite shows/movies are
Aliens, City of Lost Children, 2001, The Never-ending Story but also soaps and telenovelas and things like that.
When I'm not running games I'm...
a visual artist, educator and comics creator. I'm currently drawing a Nancy Drew weekly strip as well as a few other projects. I teach multigenerational art classes. I do a few conventions in the summer and I spend the rest of the year working on books.
How Trusty Justin runs games
I prefer a cut-to-the-chase approach to DMing. I want your characters to start the game at the mouth of cavern or the precipice of the dungeon having already committed to an adventure. Expect, deadly traps, clever thinking, and creative combat.

I deal with rules issues by...
I do my best to have a good handle on the rules. I'll listen if you have an interpretation of a rule that is compliant or makes sense with the rules as written. and If so, I'll allow it. Otherwise I will make a ruling in the moment and look it up later.
My games focus on...
Dungeon crawl and exploration. I don't spend a lot of time at the tavern talking to merchants, or doing downtime activities. All of that stuff can be covered out of game. I'm more interested in seeing how you face (or avoid) an encounter.
When it comes to voices
I'll do it here and there for NPCs but there is no requirement that you pretend to be an elf or talk like a dwarf or something unless you want to. My games are about problem-solving.
Trusty Justin's ideal table
Players at my table are invited to play theater of the mind style. You will be asked to cast your imagination into your character and see through their eyes. I will describe the environment, the creatures, the npcs and the notable features. You will describe what your characters do. My games are low tech, but I will provide maps, and art for reference. Combat distances are measured in turns instead of distances (ie. you can reach the alarm in 2 turns, but it looks like the creature can reach you in 1....) If this is the kind of game that sounds fun to you, I want you at my table.

I am for a vibe that's...
Fun, imaginative, creative. We're all having a good time. Everybody's rolling with the story and the characters are working together, fighting together, trying to defeat the challenges in front of them.
I love it when a player
Is active and makes bold choices. My games are deadly, and the timid won't be spared. If you wish to survive one of my adventures, you will have to act, and even then, let's just say, I have back-up characters available. Just in case.
My perfect party mix is
four to six players. A blend of people all different ages, all with a different amount of TTRPG experience. Some of the people might know each other already, everyone is there because they're genuinely interested in playing. Some of them may have already read the rules.
