About Marc (DefinitelyNotaWarlock)

My name is Marc and I have been a DM for 20 years and counting. I have experienced and experimented with a wide range of games to help tell your story the way you want. I like to think of myself as progressive, LGBTQ+ friendly (gay man myself), and always willing to let my players forge their paths in pursuit of an excellent story. I love teaching TTRPG games to newer players and collaborating with more experienced veterans.

I got started GMing...

20 years ago because someone in our household had to do it. We all caught the bug and I took up the mantle or organising my joyous herd of cats into their first game. I haven't stopped since.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Dungeons and Dragons, Dresden Files RPG, Burning Wheel

When I'm not running games I'm...

Baking cakes with dragons on top, walking my dog around the park, and playing video games

How Marc (DefinitelyNotaWarlock) runs games

I love epic roleplay moments more than anything, and as a GM my favourite moments are when the story we are telling together invokes an emotional reaction that has players talking about the game for days afterwards. I am a dab hand with a few simple voices to add life to the various NPCs and love a good gasp-inducing plot-twist when the game calls for one. My favourite part of a game though is sitting down with my players at the beginning of a campaign and watching them pour their ideas, creativity, and evilness (I love them really) into the story they want to tell.

I love it when a player

adds to the setting. I like to give a player a setting they can play within but with room enough that they can make their own mark on whatever world we play in
