About David
Hello all, Like many of you, I am a fantasy and sci-fi lover, and that obsession has expanded into the world of TTRPG. I’m 32 years old, and I have been a DM and player of Dungeons and Dragons 5e for two years, but I have been a crafter of stories for most of my life. I want to help you craft YOUR character’s story, and work together to breathe life into a shared, fictional world.

I became a GM because
I love world building, and I love it even more when the act of creation is shared with others. GMing allows me to craft a world, and then work with you to fill it with complex characters that bring it to life.
My favorite books are
Too many to count, but some of my modern favorites are the Expanse series, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. For classics, I love East of Eden, Madame Bovary, Brothers Karamazov.
How David runs games
I am a strong believer in the William Faulkner quote, popularized by George RR Martin, “The only thing worth writing about is the human heart in conflict with itself.” To that end, I believe the best stories that we can build together at the table are ones in which your character grows through the confrontation of their own heart and motivations. I strive to craft a world and encounters, both in role play and combat, that will allow you to explore the complexities of your character. I always try to work with you on your backstory so that your character feels anchored in the world. My main goal is for all of us to be excited by and proud of the world we build together.

Explaining my interpretation and making a ruling to keep the game moving, then after the session I will revisit the decision. Everyone makes mistakes, and if I’m wrong I’ll be the first to admit it!

The framework of the story we are telling together. You tell me what your character does and I fit it into that framework! The rules are important tools for moving the story forward and giving the game structure, but I also live for fun and unexpected moments via the rule of cool!
David's ideal table
My ideal table is filled with players who have taken care in crafting their characters and want to engage with the world. My inclination is to lean towards a more serious tone of storytelling, punctuated with moments of levity and those small moments between characters that build bonds. Respect is also important at my table. We’re all striving to have fun, and for that to happen, respect is the foundation. I will always strive to treat players fairly and respectfully as we collaborate to tell our story.
