About Annie

I've been playing TTRPGs for around seven years now. I started out playing D&D 5e as a player, but have since moved to primarily playing Pathfinder 1e. The current game I'm running for some close friends started around three years ago and takes place in a dark fantasy world with complex world building, detailed politics, and over 150 named NPCs.

My favorite system of all Time is

Pathfinder 1e for the shear amount of options in base game and 3rd party additions.

How Annie runs games

My campaigns tend to be role-play heavy with detailed world building and many NPCs. My goal as a DM is usually to create the framework that my world functions on and build my characters and conflicts on top of it. Often that means my campaigns thrive when players are proactive in their choices and goals, but suffers when players are passive. What I'm looking for in players is an eagerness to engage with the world and a drive to pursue their character's goals. Combat is usually sparce, but is never meaningless; it's story relevant and plot-driven. Having said that, I enjoy the mechanics of the systems I play with. Pathfinder 1e has been my go-to system for around three years for that reason. There are so many character options and mechanics that it covers almost any character idea I've ever had, it's just a matter of building it within the rules. I do try to stick closely to the intended rules, but may stray from them for some exceptions such as cosmetics, alignment restrictions, and prerequisites. As long as the change seems balanced, I'll consider it. I often use TTRPGs as a means to explore difficult topics, real world issues, and philosophical themes. I treat these difficult themes with great care, but it makes for darker and more serious campaigns than what many are expecting. If you use TTRPGs as escapism to avoid tough issues, there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone wants some joy in their lives. I'm just probably not the right DM for you.
