About Antonio Black

I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons for 33 years. I've been a DM for most of it as I love to share the game with new people to introduce them to what I view as an excellent RPG. I am invited annually to DM at GengisCon and sign up for 6-9 games over the for days! Cooperative story telling allows for limitless possibilities as well as lasting memories! I'm familiar and comfortable with AD&D, 3.5, 5th and current 5e rules sets. I'm well read and informed on Forgotten Realms lore and geography, but comfortable in any setting. I voice act many NPCs as well as include background music and sound effects in Fantasy Grounds VTT. I'm familiar with Call of Cthulu and being a Keeper for that game system as well. Let's find adventure together!

I ran my first game...

My first game I ran was when I was 10 years old. After playing for 2 year's and memorizing the Monster Manual and Players Manual for AD&D 2e I felt confident in teaching others how to play. I introduced my siblings and friends to the game which we enjoyed for 2 years until I had to move.

Innovative Challenging Memorable

How Antonio Black runs games

I prefer an open and challenging DM style. I almost always roll in the open for my players. I never fudge dice rolls. I believe the threat of death should be real, but I am vehemently against DM vs Player mentality. An adventure should be both challenging and memorable. I try and tailor the ratio of combat to role play to each group I DM for as wants and desires vary. I love tying in backgrounds and early adventures to mid and late game to ensure a feeling of impact on the world.

My game focus is on trying to ensure everyone has fun. I love for games to feel challenging as well as exciting.

When it comes to voices

I love voice acting, never any pressure for my players to do so. But consistency and unique voices for reoccurring NPC's is something that I love to engage in.

My tables usually have light joking at them but steer away from complete absurdity. The vibe I like to think of myself giving is old man with a pipe telling a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Where you truly feel as if you can be your character and remember their heroic moments for years to come.

Min/Maxing is completely acceptable. But I do try and temper it at a table with new players to ensure they do not feel left out or behind. Games are only fun if everyone has the chance to be the star.
