About Matteo Peddio

There would be a lot to say about me, such as my profound passion for literature, of any kind from fantasy to "classics", or the many years I've been attending acting classes for theater, and I won't even mention my philosophy degree, there's still a year left but I'm almost there. All these things are very important to me and define the person I am at a certain level, but in this context they're not the most important things to say, not even close. It's almost funny but the only things that lasted from when i was just a teenager, 10-11 years ago, are me loving TTRPGs and some beautiful friendships, the same that flourished thanks to those same games. So, something about me... Who am i... Tough questions... There are not much certainties in life, but i think i could say, being pretty sure, that i could define myself as someone who loves to craft and tell stories, and i believe that TTRPGs are one of a kind medium for that. We are made out of that, everything in us from the very atoms of our being (the true stuff we are made of) tends and resonates with stories, and narrative is a flow with such power, it can stick with us forever. I believe in this, everyone needs stories in their lives at some point, and i've been crafting them with people, because TTRPGs are mostly cooperation and sharing at the table, for people because i love to, it makes you feel good, it's fun. I think there's little to add.

How Matteo Peddio runs games

A TTRPGs game can focus on a lot of things, pretty often are manuals the ones to focus directly on certain aspects, such as narrative or combat for example. Of course I have some preferences, like every human being, so there's some stuff I prefer to concentrate on. In my games I like to dive into roleplaying, giving players the freedom to explore the world and get a liking to it. I let players talk, visit the setting and try to do stuff around if they want to, giving them inputs as quests or information to them for creating their own mission. I like to use combat as a tool to give players a challenge, I'm not into fighting for the sake of fighting, it's not my style. Something in my style, on the other hand, is giving choices to players. I believe that putting them in front of crossroads and letting them choose their path it’s a great way to create a beautiful and compelling narrative. Roleplay and choices are my golden rules, as well as communication at the table, talking and making sure of being on the same page is something I also focus on. In short, my games could be described as journeys with friends, but you have a loose schedule, like a chill roadtrip. Of course you have milestones ahead, something you won’t miss for sure, but how you get there it’s only up to you and to your party members.

I deal with rules issues by...

lookin for the most functional way, rules are important and i try my best to stick to them, but sometimes you have to interpret them or improvise, wich sometimes is the solution i go for because it can be very fun.

My games focus on...

Create a good story with my players while having fun together.

Rules are...

Are there to help you, not to get in the way.

Matteo Peddio's ideal table

I love a table full of curiosity, people who like to delve in the world, even in a strategic way maybe, are my jam.

I love it when a player

Comes up with something I didn't even imagine yet.

I think metagaming...

It’s fine if the players are cool with that, as a master i can always balance the environment around a well performing party. If it doesn’t spoil the narrative I see no problem in it.

My table is not the place for...

Someone who just wants to ruin the experience for others, time is precious. I do not let people waste other people's time.
