About James
Heyo, My name is James and I've been DMing for close to four years and I was a player for about 4ish years before that I think. Being a player taught me about quite a few of the pitfalls that a person can fall into if communication is not done between the DM and the player and also taught me the necessity for ensuring the game feels fun and not like someone is out to get you. After I began DMing I found that I could employ the things I wanted my character to have in the game I had played and had a great time doing it. It has been awesome and incredibly fun to see characters evolve and grow in ways they likely never expected. My mind is often thinking about new ideas for the campaign. I will find myself working out or listening to a song and a scene will begin to unfold in my mind. I imagine how an npc would react, what would happen to the world, what the players might or might not do, and that fuels my imagination further until I find some stuff that I just have to do and see how players interact and change it. It's really, REALLY fun.

I started running games because...
I wanted to play with my friends/family and they had no clue how to play. I also wanted to make sure the game was fun for people because I have had quite a few DM horror stories (i was stuck at level 10 while the party went up to level 17. lasted a year.)
When I'm not running games I'm...
Gaming, working out, learning mtg, writing, or having my head in the clouds as I think of fantastical situations. (i tend to do that last one alot.)
How James runs games
I will heavily explore a players backstory and weave it into the main story. The world will change and the people will react depending on what has been done previously. I want the world to feel alive and vibrant. I never want a player to feel powerless or like something is hopeless. In fact it's the opposite, i want the player to feel like they are making a noticeable mark or change in the story/world. Nor do I want someone feel the need to power game. If a person does power game, they do that to an extent. I think they will find they won't need to do that in my games though. This game is all for fun after all. I also very much enjoy roleplay and giving players choices. I think one of my previous players put it best and also was quite a compliment to me when they said they felt like it was a movie almost with how cinematic it felt even with how chaotic the players made the campaign. I will also follow the rule of cool quite a bit. Sometimes if something happens that makes sense on the players end (typically not on an antagonistic end and even then the player is given time to react.), then that's what happens.
