About CM the DM
Hey, it's me. Your favorite dungeon master's favorite dungeon master. I've been running games in D&D for almost 12 years. It's absolutely my favorite thing in the world, and I love sharing that passion and care with my players. I've done everything from swashbuckling pirate adventures to Victorian era mystery to wacky goblin shenanigans. I've run campaigns for seasoned Min-maxing veterans, and 11 year old girls who have never played before (harrowing). So grab your dice, put on your (insert class here) hat, and let's make some memories. I got started GMing...
because there were stories I wanted at my table that none of the other GMs were doing for their campaigns
People are always surprised when I tell them
BOO!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Adaptable, Immersive, and Communicative
How CM the DM runs games
My DMing style is primarily character and story driven. My job is to tell the stories of my players' characters in these worlds, so that has always been a focus in my campaigns. To facilitate that, I focus on fun and engaging NPCs with distinct voices to help drive the characters forward, and provide engaging combats. I like to immerse the players as well, so I use music, high quality maps (for tactical combat), and scenic images (For theatre of the mind combats and scene setting). As a standard in all my campaigns, the only hard line I have regarding content is Sexual Assault. I will not roleplay it, and I will not allow it at my table. If that is something you wish to explore with roleplay, I'm not the DM you're looking for. All session 0s in my campaigns are free for all players. Rules-wise, I'm pretty vibes based. if there's an official rule on it, I tend to stick to that. If there's a question about a rules interaction, I'll make a ruling based on how much sense it makes, and I'll stick with that ruling moving forward. If you disagree with a ruling, I ask that you hold off until after a session, just to keep the game in motion. UNLESS it's a mistake that results in a character's death. I don't have any hard bans on any first party material, but I will request that you don't play a Twilight Domain cleric unless you have an amazing character idea that wouldn't work as anything else. I also request that only one person in a party take Silvery Barbs. I excel when it comes to horror and because of that, tend to include in almost all of my games, usually in a specific arc or location if that's not the vibe of the overall campaign. I also love crafting narratives (and sometimes entire worlds) around my player's characters and backstories. I work best when I have more to work with, but if you don't have something solid in mind by the end of session 0, I can still build a narrative around your character.

I deal with rules issues by...
making a decisive decision in the moment. If there's an issue with a ruling, as long as it doesn't cause a character's death, I usually ask that my players wait until after the session and then come to me so it doesn't disrupt the flow of the game.
My games focus on...
Immersion. I like my players to feel like their characters are part of a living, breathing world. It helps enhance their roleplay and enjoyment.
When it comes to voices
I practice new ones so much my kids are good at them now.
CM the DM's ideal table
If you are the kind of player who loves creating a good solid backstory, this is your table. I love taking things from player's backstories and using them to create quest hooks, NPCS, traumatizingmomentsthatwillscaryourcharacterspsycheandleadthemtodevelopseveretrustissues, and even sometimes whole pieces of world building.

I love it when a player
chooses to play a warlock. >:)
I think metagaming...
breaks immersion. The game is at its best when you forget you're playing a game.
I think min/maxing...
is perfectly fine and valid, so long as it doesn't slip into power-gaming, which is a subsection of meta gaming.
