About Abyssal Siren

Howdy, Y'all can address me as Siren. 22 year old all around nerd with a background in medical. I've been playing tabletop, specifically dungeons and dragons. Since I was 10, and been a DM since I was 12. I'm generally upbeat and positive and welcoming to all. After privately DMing for friends and groups for all those years I think I'm finally ready to put myself out there and see if more people would enjoy my style of gaming and would be interested in making their stories and characters come to life.

I became a GM because

I grew up as that nerdy outcast kid, yeah you know the types. Crippling social anxiety and way to much nerd knowledge. And I found D&D to be a great way to make friends and talk to people, not to mention it's really fun. So I decided to share that gift with everyone else I could!

I got started GMing...

I got started GMing when I was 10. I know, young age to start. But I stumbled into a game store running D&D and I ran with it. Sat down, made a character, and started playing. I fell in love with the hobby and shortly after I started hosting my own campaigns!

When I'm not running games I'm...

Mainly I'm a nerd, so it's reading, gaming, and also spending time with my wife, kid, and my friends. That or creating all those lovely characters I'll never touch, such is the curse of being a DM. The silver lining to that is it helps my wife write her books! Endless supply of characters for her.

How Abyssal Siren runs games

I firmly believe that every player deserves to shine and to be a critical part of the story. So I encourage character building with back stories so I can bake them into whatever campaign I might be running at the time. I love homebrew and encourage creativity and outside the box thinking at my tables. I do my best for voices and accents and try to make NPC's unique and make the world's I create fleshed out and lived in. I encourage my players to step into their characters and act as they would, but I understand roleplaying and voices especially can't be for everyone and some are shy. At the very least I include one combat session with dynamic and interactive environments with multiple endings. The world will react to the choices of the player characters, and I tend to reward creativity and I prefer a "alright, tell me how this could work" instead of vetoing a unorthodox idea from a player. I believe RPG's and tabletop are stories where the players and dm should come together and create a story for everyone to enjoy and I highly discourage the DM vs Player mentality some games seem to have.

My games focus on...

I love tying the characters back story in with the campaign. Every act will focus on one or two PC's but that doesn't mean everyone else will be forgotten. I enjoy giving proper character growth opportunities and challenges to my players, I want the characters and their story to be memorable.

When it comes to voices

I love when a table can get into roleplay, it's my favorite part when everyone helps write the story for the campaign! I encourage my players to get into character and will frequently do voices myself for NPCs and such. Though remembering who has what voice is sometimes tricky.

Abyssal Siren's ideal table

Easygoing, here for a good time. I want everyone to feel welcomed at my tables. I love a bit of humor and jokes at the table and will even partake of it myself at times. I would enjoy a table that's not downright murder hobo without prior warning or agreement with the party.

I am for a vibe that's...

It's a gaming hobby, we're all here for fun. I want the vibe of my tables to be easygoing and all around enjoying themselves. Humour and such is always welcome as long as it's okay with the table and in good taste. And as always there are times in a campaign where you gotta lock in and be serious.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

References and Easter eggs. I love adding magic items or encounters or whatever else to my sessions that come from games and media.

My perfect party mix is

I don't have a generic perfect party mix. But when the saying comes to mind all I want is a group of people who can agree and make decisions amongst themselves without fighting. I am down for any type of campaign or character my players can think up or want. I just want everyone to agree.
