About Ron

I have been a table top role playing game enthusiast since age 12. My Game Master career began as a regular GM in the RPGA at local tournaments with the Cross Roads Game club. Later in November of 2021 I began running games on Roll20 for a group of players that have stuck with me through three campaigns of D&D 5e in both the Forgotten Realms and later Mystara, having introduced them to BECMI, Star Frontiers, Frontier Space, and Stars Without Number providing 779 hours of entertainment over those years. The keep coming back, and I keep killing their characters and challenging them as players. They love me for it. Aside from this I work for Target Corp in a local store and have been there six years, previously have worked as a Satellite Technician for both Direct TV and Dish, and consider myself Technologically competent.

I became a GM because

my friends made me, after we all took turns running a game, because they said I was the most "cool". Looking back at it now, I think they set me up! Seriously I do love GM more than I love playing.

My favorite system of all Time is

and Always and Forever will be Star Frontiers, a game that only lasted three years, but for which helped define me as GM in world building, and in story telling.

When I'm not running games I'm...

giving the antagonists in the games, motivational speeches to empower them in slaying the players characters. Well, that and YouTube. And Pandora. And well work, but let's not talk about that.

How Ron runs games

I specialize in immersive sandbox adventures where player choices matter. Whether you're exploring the Known World of Mystara, surviving the frontier in Stars Without Number, or carving your own legend in another setting, I strive to create worlds that feel alive and react naturally to your decisions. My philosophy is simple: the world isn't trying to beat you—but it won't protect you either. Creatures behave according to their nature. Bandits set ambushes. Dragons defend their hoards. Military commanders use strategy. Wild animals flee when they're outmatched and fight fiercely when cornered. Every encounter is designed to feel believable rather than balanced around a script. Because of that, I reward players who observe, plan, negotiate, improvise, and work together. Charging headlong into every problem may work sometimes—but thoughtful play usually pays greater dividends. Character death is possible, but it is never my objective. My goal isn't to defeat the party; it's to create meaningful challenges where victory feels earned. When setbacks happen, they become part of your story rather than the end of your fun. If a character is eliminated during a session, I'll find ways to keep you involved whenever possible, whether that's taking the role of an NPC, assisting behind the screen, or another solution that keeps you engaged. Above all, I see the Game Master as the host of the table. My responsibility is to provide a challenging, immersive, and enjoyable experience for everyone. I treat every player with respect, own my mistakes when they happen, and will always rule in the players' favor if I've made an error. I also trust my players to manage their own character sheets and resources honestly, with the understanding that we're all working together to tell a great story. If you enjoy living worlds, meaningful choices, intelligent opponents, and adventures where success is earned through teamwork and creativity, I think you'll feel right at home at my table.

Ron's ideal table

Bruce Lee once said, "Be like water, my friend." That's the spirit I hope every player brings to my table. RPGs are collaborative storytelling, and the best adventures happen when everyone is willing to adapt, support one another, and have fun. Be on time. We all carved time out of our busy lives to be here. Respecting everyone's schedule means we get to spend more time adventuring and less time waiting. Be patient. Especially with new players—and with yourself. Nobody knows everything, and everyone started somewhere. Be ready. When your turn comes around, have an idea of what you'd like to do. Your plans may change (they usually do!), but thinking ahead helps keep the game moving. Be flexible. No battle plan survives first contact with the dice. Unexpected twists are where some of the best stories are born. Be yourself. Whether you perform elaborate character voices, speak in first person, narrate your actions simply, or just say, "I swing my sword," your style is welcome here. There isn't a right way to roleplay—only your way. Be accepting. Every player enjoys the game differently. One of my old tablemates did a Jar Jar Binks impression. Naturally, I countered with Barney the Purple Dinosaur. Somehow, we all survived—and I learned that different play styles often make for the most memorable stories. Be considerate. Treat your fellow players with kindness and respect. We all bring different experiences to the table, and everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the game. Be communicative. Need a quick break? Got an emergency call? Kids need you? Life happens. Just let me know you'll be away, and we'll work around it. Real life always comes first. Be honest. If something isn't working for you, tell me. Questions, concerns, feedback, and ideas are always welcome. Be invested. Celebrate the victories, mourn the losses, laugh at the disasters, and enjoy the ride. The more you invest in the story, the more rewarding it becomes. Be accountable. The energy you bring to the table shapes the experience for everyone. Great games aren't created by the GM alone—they're created together. Above all, remember that we're here to tell an unforgettable story together. Bring your imagination, your curiosity, and your willingness to embrace the unexpected. Like water, we'll adapt, overcome, and have an amazing adventure. I don't expect perfect players—I just ask for players who want everyone at the table to have a great time.
