About Craig Wilkinson
Hi, I’m Craig. I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for years, across a range of systems, campaigns, and table styles, and I’m especially drawn to the roleplaying, storytelling, and worldbuilding side of the hobby. As a GM, my focus is always the player experience. I want your character to feel like they belong in the world, that their choices matter, and that their victories, mistakes, fears, jokes, backstory details, and throwaway roleplay moments can all become part of the living story. Some of my favourite moments behind the screen come from taking something unexpected a player says or does and weaving it into the wider narrative. My games tend to be character-led and reactive. I enjoy building worlds with strong atmosphere, recurring NPCs, moral pressure, danger, humour, and consequences. I like players to feel challenged, but not punished; supported, but not railroaded. Combat matters, but so do investigation, social choices, exploration, and the emotions that make a campaign memorable. For me, GMing is a creative outlet, building worlds and stories for people to enjoy. I bring the setting, the narrative and some complications... The players bring the character, the choices, and the chaos. The best campaigns I've had lay somewhere in between a story and utter nonsense. I once hosted a 3 month side quest to give a pig sentience. That NPC (Chris P Bacon) is still kicking.

I became a GM because
I imagine this is the same response of 95% of GMs on here, but it's because no one else in the group wanted to do it, and years later here we are still going strong.
My favorite books are
Basically anything Sci-Fi, I recently finished the Murderbot Diaries and absolutely loved it. Highly recommend giving the series a go.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I'm writing stories for games I want to run. Or you know, dreaming up characters I would play if I wasn't GMing.
How Craig Wilkinson runs games
My GM style is built around big worlds, character-driven stories, and the feeling that the table is discovering something together. I love running campaigns with a strong sense of place: large-scale settings full of history, factions, mysteries, strange locations, political tensions, and consequences. I like players to feel that the world exists beyond the edge of the map, but that their choices can meaningfully change what happens within it. My stories usually unfold through exploration, investigation, roleplay, and the decisions the party makes along the way. I enjoy planting mysteries and letting players pull at the threads until the wider truth starts to reveal itself. Backstories matter at my table, not as static lore, but as living material that can return, evolve, complicate the present, and make characters feel central to the campaign. I aim for a mix of cinematic drama, meaningful choices, danger, humour, and emotional payoff. Combat has stakes, but it is rarely just combat for its own sake; it should reveal character, shift the story, or make the world feel dangerous and alive, and if you want to go off and do that stupid thing that will have a good chance of disaster you better believe I'm up for that. I also fully believe in the sacred art of silly voices. Expect serious worldbuilding, dramatic reveals, strange NPCs, occasional chaos, and at least one voice that escapes my control and becomes canon forever.

I once ran a session...
Well, more a series of sessions, the group adopted(stole) a pig and really wanted to make it a sentient member of the party, there was a whole 8 session arc of this lot making a deal with a devil. Now they have a werehuman pig that transforms, and may or may not have sorcerous powers, you don't know
I prep by
Overthinking everything, planning for all eventualities apart from the one that the party inevitably chooses and then having an absolute blast winging the whole encounter.
My games focus on...
Deep character integration with the world and story. The worlds are living and vast and every player has a place and a story in it.
Craig Wilkinson's ideal table
My table is inclusive, friendly, and open to a wide range of player types, whether you are brand new to TTRPGs or have years of experience. I aim to create a table where players feel welcome, respected, and able to enjoy the game in their own style. You can expect a good mix of roleplay, combat, exploration, social encounters, puzzles, mystery, and character-driven storytelling. Some sessions may lean more heavily into drama and investigation, others into danger, tactics, or chaos, but the goal is always to give everyone something meaningful to engage with. The general vibe at my table is collaborative rather than competitive. I love when players make bold choices, build relationships with NPCs, explore the world, follow strange clues, and bring their characters’ personalities into the story. The world will react to you, events will unfold around you, and your decisions will matter. I do not run railroaded games, but I also will not leave players lost or unsupported. I like giving clear information, useful guidance, and meaningful choices, while still leaving room for surprise, freedom, and player creativity. If you enjoy a table where story, character, humour, danger, and shared imagination all have space, you will likely fit in well.

I love it when a player
uses that innocuous item I randomly gave them to blow my mind.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Choose the serious and moody NPC over the Kobold with a silly voice.
I think min/maxing...
Can lead to great role play and character development. I see no reason the rules and story can't come together to create something new and exciting.
