About Kanzaris
Hi! I'm a tabletop nerd from Argentina who's been playing RPGs since I was a little kid! I started GMing over a decade ago, and have played a wide variety of games and even done gamedev consultancy work in my time. I love creating stories and sharing them with others, and nothing makes me happier than when someone tosses in a twist of their own that I didn't see coming. Having finished several campaigns over the years, I'm hoping to find some new players with which to craft a story that they'll remember for years to come!

My favorite books are
The Vorkosigan Saga (especially Memory), anything by Mark Twain (but especially Huck Finn), the Dresden Files, the works of China Mieville and Carlos Ruiz Zafón's Marina and the Cemetery of Forgotten Books Sequence.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Creative, Surprising, Silly
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing videogames, listening to music, and teaching and debating! I'm a big fan of sharing the things I think are cool with others and helping others learn more about why they're neat. I'm also a very hardcore gamer, and play just about anything.
How Kanzaris runs games
My GMing style has the following pillars: -Worlds and people you can care about: I like to give places and characters depth and development. Whatever players become interested in, it's my hope that they'll find a lot to it underneath the surface, just waiting for them to dig in. -Difficult choices: I want scenes to have stakes. Whether it's in the middle of a crisis or pondering a life-changing decision, I want the players to have to sit down and think about what fits their characters, like REALLY fits them, when they decide what they need to be doing. -Meaningful stakes: I like to help players make capable, competent characters, give them the respect they deserve, and then toss situations at them that require their unique expertises to handle. Things aren't easy because they are worth your time, not because a module says it's time for a high level challenge here. This can be a complex tactical scenario, but it can also be a difficult and tense negotiation, or a sneaking mission you only get one shot at. -Communication and openness above all else: I want players to be excited for what's coming, and I want to make sure what happens in the game are things that I enjoy. I like to touch base often to make sure we're on the same page, and am very receptive to requests and suggestions.

I deal with rules issues by...
Quickly consulting the players on the issue, then making a judgement call. Once we have a bit of downtime, we discuss in more detail what the issue was and come up with a more permanent solution if the one that was used in the moment was not ideal.
Rules are...
A tool to make play flow better and more smoothly. They're also supposed to be fun. We follow them strongly until they either don't work for what we want to do, or something that would be fun is beyond them, and then we step out of the rules and return to them once the moment is done.
Kanzaris's ideal table
Very player-focused, with a strong emphasis on providing players with choices to make, and situations to explore. The world doesn't revolve around them, but they make a significant impact on it, at whatever level play is currently at (one city, a kingdom, global). Players who love carving out a place in the world, learning more about it, and facing complicated challenges that test both their characters and themselves will be right at home!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Hard choices, interesting dilemmas, spectacular adventure, and very silly jokes and groan-worthy puns.
I love it when a player
Takes a moment to deliberate in an open situation and comes up with an angle I didn't see coming, but that perfectly fits their character!
I think min/maxing...
Is perfectly cool, so long as it's done in service of a character concept! I want my players to make the best versions of their characters they can. Random mishmashes done for power I am a bit less keen on, but I'm always willing to see how a player justifies it first before saying no.
