About Florian
Hey! I'm Florian. I started playing DnD in 2021 and have been running my own campaigns as a Dungeon Master (DM) since 2023. My job as a high school teacher has given me an understanding of how to keep a group engaged and interested. I run my DnD sessions and my classrooms in a similar way (and no, I don't mean boring maths equations). I engage people by giving them plenty of opportunities to contribute and shape the session together. I also believe it's important for people to come up with their own solutions rather than just being told everything. As part of my education, I studied theatre education. While I wouldn't describe myself as an actor, I know the basics and enjoy bringing characters to life through voice and demeanour. I don't have any experience with other systems besides DnD, but I have seen them used in campaigns I have watched, such as Kids on Brooms and Vampire: The Masquerade. I love DMing/GMing and want to do more of it. So let's work together and create amazing worlds!

My favorite books are
I love the Raybearer series! If you like fantasy, give it a try. It's African-based fantasy! I love dragons and knight and so on, but it's so eye-opening and enjoyable to see fantasy based in a non-Western culture.
My favorite shows/movies are
Show: One Piece Movie: Everything Everywhere All at Once
When I'm not running games I'm...
running after my dreams. And that mostly means being a storyteller. Oh, how I wish that was a real job! I do all sorts of things: drawing, writing, playing, editing
How Florian runs games
Very friendly and open to first time players! (Also can do everything in German) I really love personal experiences. I find it far more engaging when players create backstories for their characters, and this is the driving force behind my games. To me, that is far more interesting than any Big Bad Guy (or Girl) I could come up with. Homebrewing is also valid if it makes sense, and I truly think I have a knack for balancing things. I also go for the Rule of Cool. I like to include puzzles in my games, as well as deadly combat. I often try to have one session that is more character- and/or world-building focused, and the next session that is combat-focused, alternating between the two. I also enjoy roleplaying, but only if my scene partners at the table are comfortable with it. I know not everyone wants to act out a big scene. One thing I like less is shopping scenes. They can be fun, but trying to bargain about every single item can stop the flow of the game, in my opinion. However bargaining can still happen if it makes sens for the place we are in. Sometimes I send my players a list of things they can buy in this town/market at the listed prices. If there's anything they want that isn't on the list, we can definitely talk about it. I think it makes for a smoother game experience.
Florian's ideal table
- The most important rule: We are here to have FUN! - We will take a 5-10 minute break after playing for one hour. You also can request breaks at any time. - Players should be willing to work together, even if they play a 'lone wolf' character. Try to support others' ideas, even if they seem far-fetched. It is often more fun. - If there is a topic that we should not talk about, such as abuse/drunkeness/torture, we will discuss a safe word beforehand. Anyone at the table can say this word, and we will skip or reset that scene. No explanation needed.
