About Rhett - Storyteller
Hello! I have always loved all kinds of games, but got into TTRPGS right before COVID. Since then, I have been on both sides of the table for those 6 years. Nothing is more fun to me than playing out a story, seeing how characters interact, and letting the dice introduce unique twists that even I don't expect.

I got started GMing...
Because I wanted to play, and so did all of my friends! The feeling of preparing to run Curse of Strahd as my first adventure was truly something special to me, and lit a spark that I still carry all this time later.
My favorite system of all Time is
Daggerheart! I think it is a perfect blend of hard-coded rules and space for roleplay, and I love the way it encourages its own use in a lot of settings with Campaign Frames!
How Rhett - Storyteller runs games
In my heart, I am a roleplayer above all else. Nothing makes me more excited than telling interesting stories! Of course, I never skimp on the combat or exploration! I feel like those mechanics are part of what makes TTRPGs able to tell stories unique to them. That being said though, when you are in my games you can expect to get immersed in playing your character and telling their story! I also am passionate about making you as a player feel like both you and your character are a pivotal part of those stories.

I prep by
putting on my favorite music and reading my campaign notes, considering what has happened and where it could go.
My favorite trope is...
Chekov's Gun. I love to reveal why I point out or describe things that at first seem like background details. It's harder to do than in a visual medium like movies, but just as satisfying!
Rules are...
there to facilitate the game and story, not to be ironclad law. If they get in the way of what is going on, they should be tweaked for more "cinematic" moments.
Rhett - Storyteller's ideal table
Regardless of how well they knew each other before, my ideal table is with a group of players that have a lighthearted, friendly vibe regardless of the game's material. Even at the most heightened drama, we should all be able to walk away from a session with a sense of excitement for the next one. Not agreeable to a fault, my table would ideally be one in which everyone can respectfully disagree (including with me).

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Baldur's Gate 3, or other games that thrive on player choice
I love it when a player
Describes their character's actions, from the overarching to the body language. I love to hear them speak in the character's voice, but it really helps everyone at the table get a feel for them when they can envision what they look like as they speak, walk, attack, or otherwise act.
My table is not the place for...
"Main Character Syndrome." The party is a unit, a group that goes on adventures together. At the end of it all, the results of those adventures are uncertain. Characters may fail, as a group or in their personal goals, and even die in some games. This is all a normal part of play, and should be fun!
