About Ross

As a father of three little goblins, I’ve spent years managing unpredictable little adventurers who ignore the obvious quest objective, attempt increasingly questionable solutions to simple problems, and occasionally require snacks to prevent a total party wipe. In other words, being a Dungeon Master comes naturally to me. D&D found me during a difficult period in my life. For a few hours each week, I could leave everything else behind and simply be somewhere else. I love the thought of extending that same opportunity to others. If I can create a table where someone can laugh, get completely invested in their character, make some friends, forget about the real world for a few hours, and be genuinely excited to return the following week then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. As a GM, I favor roleplay, player agency, immersive storytelling, and the Rule of Cool. I prepare the adventure, but I don’t expect players to follow a script. Your choices shape the story, and some of my favorite moments come when players completely derail what I thought was going to happen. As a newer GM, I’m constantly working to improve. I welcome feedback, I’m not afraid to admit when I’ve made the wrong ruling. I’ll always prioritize creating a fair, welcoming, and fun table over pretending I know everything. So bring me your elaborate backstory, your terrible character voice, your ridiculous plan that absolutely shouldn’t work, and your favorite set of dice. Let’s see what happens.

I started running games because...

Because I am thoroughly addicted to D&D!

My favorite books are

The red rising series, DCC, game of thrones. Anything sci-fi, western or historical horror themed is exactly my cup of tea.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Coaching collegiate lacrosse, hiking or camping with my three kids or cooking!

How Ross runs games

My table leans heavily into roleplay, character interaction, and player agency. I love when players get invested in their characters, interact with the world, and attempt things I didn’t anticipate. I want your decisions to matter, and I’m always willing to adapt when the party takes the story somewhere unexpected. I’m also a big believer in the Rule of Cool. The rules give us the structure that makes D&D work, but I don’t believe they should prevent a great idea or memorable moment when a reasonable ruling can make it work. I’m open to house rules and rule modifications when they make the game more fun, engaging, or cinematic, while keeping things fair and consistent for everyone at the table. I enjoy building atmosphere through descriptions, NPC interactions, mysteries, and encounters that give players meaningful choices. Combat should be more than reducing a monster’s hit points—I like giving players opportunities to interact with their surroundings, improvise solutions, and approach problems in ways I may not have planned for. Most importantly, I want my games to feel collaborative. I’m not playing against the party, and there’s no “correct” way through my adventures. I provide the world, characters, challenges, and consequences; the players help determine what the story actually becomes. I’m always open to player feedback. My goal is for everyone to leave a session excited about what happened and looking forward to finding out what comes next.
