About Carson
I originally started DM'ing because my DM deployed to Iraq and left me his books. Someone had to run the game, so I picked them up and figured it out as we went. That was 10 years ago, and I’ve been behind the screen ever since. My games tend to lean heavily into exploration, atmosphere, and mystery. I like to build worlds where the past left scars behind — ancient ruins, strange magic, stranger creatures, and systems nobody could fully comprehend . Players usually spend more time investigating and theorizing facts than they do fighting. I run tables that focus on collaboration and discovery. If you enjoy slowly uncovering how a world works, making questionable decisions in dangerous ruins, and occasionally realizing you’ve just activated something that absolutely should have stayed dormant, you’ll probably fit in just fine.

How Carson runs games
My games usually mix investigation, exploration, and tense moments where the players realize they’ve just stumbled into something bigger than they expected. Combat happens, but the real fun is in discovery and the decisions players make when they realize the situation is way more complicated than it first looked. The thing I enjoy most as a GM is watching players uncover mysteries piece by piece. I like campaigns where the world has history baked into it. Ruins with stories behind them, strange magic that nobody fully understands anymore, and clues that slowly start connecting when the party digs deeper. Roleplay and player decisions drive most if not all of the momentum in my games. Combat still matters, but it usually happens because of the choices the party makes rather than because I’m pushing them toward it. When fights do happen, I try to make them tense and meaningful rather than routine, no one likes combat burnout. At my table I try to keep things collaborative and relaxed. I want players to feel comfortable experimenting with ideas, solving problems creatively, and shaping the story alongside me. Some of the best moments in tabletop games come from unexpected player decisions, and I leave space for those moments to happen. It should feel completely organic and not forced, because those moments are unforgettable.

My table is collaborative, story-driven, and a little chaotic in the best way. I like building immersive experiences where players can explore, ask questions, and slowly realize they’ve stepped into something bigger than they expected. Players who enjoy roleplay, curiosity, and making meaningful choices will fit in well. If you like connecting the dots, leaning into the tone, and occasionally having those “oh… oh no” moments, you’ll feel right at home. The overall vibe balances relaxed and fun with atmospheric and thoughtful. There’s room for humor and character moments, but the focus is on discovery, tension, and creating a story that sticks with you after the session ends.
