About Marek
Hi there! My name is Marek, or Mara. I've been running games since high school (so 15 years now) and decided to take it up a notch, share my fun and love of D&D (and now Daggerheart) to others. My games are custom. Even the pre-made modules. They are customized to my players - maybe even to you :)

People are always surprised when I tell them
... that my best voices are old grandpas and grandmas.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Original Adaptive roleplay-hungry-hungry-hippo
When I'm not running games I'm...
probably doing one of the following: - my job - HR & Operations manager - playing MTG (Commander) - on a walk with my dog ; cleaning my dogs paws (I hate mud) - preparing for D&D As you can see, very nerdy over here.
How Marek runs games
My games are designed and run to make the players feel like we all want to feel - you're your character from a beloved game or movie. You're not the only main character, there's several of you. Unless the players want, it's not a dungeon crawl. It's an experience. Even combat can be roleplayed well and I intend to keep it that way. Wanna have some fun? Let's! Rule of cool applies. Also, if your character would succumb to battle wounds or mysterious magical illness.. they would get a "last words" + heroic last round. Make it memorable. But, in the end, it's a style we need to hone together, so everyone has fun.

I prep by
Either listening to the last session or reading my notes. Since I promote improv and prep together, I usually have something ready, but tend to bend it a lot.
Rules are...
...meant to be followed while keeping it healthy and bend where needed.
When it comes to voices
I don't have a very deep voice. But I can do all sorts of voices otherwise. But sometimes.. even my voices for dragons, dwarfs or other .. burly... types can surprise you.
Marek's ideal table
My ideal table.. We break boundaries of reality and shift towards our fantasy life. Suddenly I don't share a table with an IT developer, a Marketing specialist, a Teacher and a delivery driver. Suddenly I share the table with a Halfling Barbarian, a Lizardfolk Bard, a Dwarf Wizard and an Aasimar Artificer. This means that every person thought about their character and tries to "live it" at the table. They thought about how their character thinks, speaks, takes actions, etc. My ideal players don't just join a game and use their sheets. They take it as their own.

I love it when a player
reacts to what other players do and builds on it.
I think metagaming...
...worse than min maxing.
I think min/maxing...
...awful. Do what you think is cool and fun, but don't think of D&D as a video game to beat.
