About Eski
Hi there! My name is Eski, I'm an Australian GM and have about 5 years of experience across many groups! I aim to provide a safe space for all people, to craft a fun and engaging story, and show the world how freeing Tabletop systems can be. I started off with DnD5e, but I have since developed a huge interest in Daggerheart. It is an incredible system that is just enjoyable for both players and GM's, and if you have never tried it before, I would love to show you how easy it is to jump right in! Whether you're a complete beginner looking to learn, or a seasoned player looking for a fearful experience, I would be happy to help create an immersive, narrative driven experience, with some great combat encounters along the way! As a GM, I strongly believe in the principle that I collaborate with my players. I am never antagonistic in my role as GM to my players, and I will always work with them to tell an exciting story. While I create adversaries, problems, and roadbumps in the story to add drama, I am never rooting for you or your character to lose. To help with this, I create a safe play environment with consent sheets and off limits topics. I use the X Card system, I clarify the consequences of choices with my players, and will always warn about potential triggers. Trauma is invisible and can affect anyone, so it's best to be safe! So, can I interest you about this fun new system called Daggerheart???

I became a GM because
I wanted my non-TableTop playing friends to experience the excitement of it all! Both in the roleplaying of telling a great story, and the feeling of working together in a combat and defying the odds! I got them all into it, and we're on our 3rd new campaign now!
My favorite system of all Time is
DAGGERHEART!!!!!! I could go on forever about how great of a system it is, but to reel you in, go check out the book's ancestry pages. Seeing the designs of the characters, the fitting and unique mechanics they provide, and the sketches for different possible aesthetics? It's so inspiring.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Spending time with my incredible wife, petting my adorable dog, and playing video games, shoutout to Deadlock. I also work in disability education, which is one of the best jobs I've ever had.
How Eski runs games
I aim to provide each group with the playstyle that they most enjoy! Session 0 is a super important time for me to not just help you make your character, but decide what you want to get out of the campaign. The scales are moved depending on many questions; How deadly do you want the campaign to be, would you like political intrigue or just to stab things, do you enjoy more slow burn roleplay, or would you like a combat in every session? I will create our campaign based around these questions and more, and it will help to balance out player expectations. That being said, if you prefer high stakes combat and deadly encounters were one false move could lead to severe consequences, AND intense roleplay with dramatic scenes of relationships being forged or broken and the true extent of the human condition... I can provide! Anything along that scale, leaning towards whatever the party fancies at the time. The only things I tend to avoid is explicit puzzles or monologues. Explicit puzzles (Slotting specific runes into specific slots in a wall to open a door), that require the player to think more than the actual character, CAN be engaging, but often fail to immerse them in the story and take away from the experience. As for monologues, it's not my place as the GM to show off my speech skills. And I'd much rather engage with the players and characters and involve them as much as I can in the choices that the world throws at you.

I once ran a session...
in an underwater world where corrupted Lionfish had been destroying a city. A player saw that a colossal fish was approaching, ready to eat them all. So he used his grappler, fired it at a lionfish, wrangled it up with some help from the party, and rode the bastard off to safety. He rolled a crit!
I prep by
making a world with a solid base, and getting my players to pepper in their ideas and flesh the campaign out from there. I love Session 0's to see the creative ideas that players give for the world map, and the surprised look they have when everyone loves their idea!
Rules are...
to mechanically support the story that we create. If the rules get in the way of a great narrative moment, then I'm very willing to bend them! And if it's not possible, I won't make you roll for it, so there's no harm in trying.
Eski's ideal table
My table is a safe place for all people, where you will find belonging and comfort if you are kind and respectful to others. It's also a table where I've cried laughing, cried normally, and in general experienced some of the most chaotic and creative moments that all players love. The safety of the players helps immensely with finding those special Tabletop moments that help you realize your creativity.

I love it when a player
says "There's something I want to do but I'm not sure if the book will let me." It's always a good sign, and I feel excitement at the prospect of what this player is planning. And almost always, it's something I'm definitely willing to let happen!
My perfect party mix is
A lovable idiot, an edgy but soft on the inside rogue, the romantic, the nature lover, and the smartass.
My table is not the place for...
Bigotry of any kind. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism; none of it is tolerated in my games. If you feel negatively about this then please ask yourself why I would ever want you at my table if you're going to make other players and myself uncomfortable.
