About Zach
I'm a long time gamer looking to get out of boring office work, and work in a field I deeply enjoy. Why not this one? I have been gaming for almost 25 years now. I started with D&D and over time my tastes and rulesets expanded to where they are now. I started as a player, but over time I stepped up to relieve our Forever GM. I have GMed campaigns, one shots, and everything in between at this point.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Pathfinder 1E, Death in Space, Shadowdark. Pathfinder 1E because of the cronch. Death in Space for theme and simplicity. Shadowdark for an OSR feel with modern RPG sensibilities.
My favorite shows/movies are
Movie: Hot Fuzz TV Show: I have to cheat and have a tie here. Justified and Battlestar Galactica (The new series)
How Zach runs games
I love good roleplay in my games. I try and craft memorable NPC's for my players and to also encourage them to roleplay amongst themselves. I tend to write plot, but give my players a lot of leeway to do what they will. Eventually everything comes back around though!

I deal with rules issues by...
collaboration. I'll try and meet you halfway, and if we can't come to an agreement, we'll decide with random chance in the moment. After the session, I'll come up with a hard ruling going forward. If the rule is structural to your character concept, we'll come up with a solution too.
Rules are...
strong guidelines. A good place to start with most issues, but they aren't set in stone. Especially if your idea is cool!
When it comes to voices
I do my best! I'm not a voice actor, but I try and give each NPC a different feel with my mannerisms at the least.
Zach's ideal table
My table is a collaborative one. We're all here to tell a story, so I might ask a player for a little bit of detail or how there player sees a situation. I've been known to give out inspiration/luck tokens/rerolls for good additions!

I love it when a player
comes up with a creative use for an unassuming object/spell/whatever that really makes me think.
I think metagaming...
has its place... If you're new to a system or new to a specific theme or genre. Thinking about things from that meta perspective can help you grasp the mechanics in a system and the core concepts of a genre. Eventually though, you should remove that metagaming mindset once you have a handle on them.
I think min/maxing...
has its place. Its definitely something that should be broached in a rule 0 conversation. Just so everyone is on the same page. If everyone does it and the GM is fine with it, then there's no issue at all! Me personally, I don't want min/maxing to get in the way of good roleplay and deep characters.
