About InspiredGM
Introduced to Dungeons and Dragons in the mid 1980s, I’ve been a tabletop roleplaying enthusiast since 1st edition AD&D. I’ve been a Game Master since 5th edition’s release and have run hundreds of in-person and online sessions since. Additionally, I represent roleplaying game publishers at conventions such as GenCon, Origins, and Pax Unplugged where I introduce game systems and settings for new and experienced players to explore. For in-person games, I enjoy crafting epic tabletop terrain to place in front of my players and gameplay accessories such as wooden dice trays and GM Screens to aid in the gameplay. Being a fan of Fantasy and Science Fiction storytelling, Board Games, Music and Media, and Nerd Culture, I blend my interests into my social life, hobbies and profession.

I got started GMing...
to rekindle a love for TTRPGs when I did not have others willing to run games for my family and friends. I'm the type of person to learn how something works so everyone else can easily join in on the fun. Getting people around the table to share in telling a fun story has been a passion for decades.
My favorite books are
Dune Series, Dragonlance Series, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
When I'm not running games I'm...
splitting with between my family and long list of interests and hobbies. I spend much time outdoors with nature, mostly in wooded areas. I love building things with my hands such as custom woodworked gaming accessories, tabletop terrain and furniture. I'm into anything that builds communities.
How InspiredGM runs games
As a GM, I am highly adaptable and meet the players where they are. For those looking for an immersive roleplaying experience or gritty tactical challenge, my games provide a sandbox to explore their favorite game styles. I’ve run campaigns for all levels of skill from first time players wanting to give TTRPGs a try to others looking to min-max their characters and battle iconic and fierce foes. My tables have often been a place for “Forever GMs” to experience being a player character on the other side of the GM screen. I mostly run games with a rule-of-cool approach. If there is a choice between a fun option and a technical option, I usually lean towards fun. Regarding Roleplaying, I often speak in first person though will default to third person depending on time available or needing to convey specific plot points. Each group of players have unique expectations for their games. I am open to their input, the uncertainty of taking the story off the rails and allowing the dice to bring chaos to the table!

I deal with rules issues by...
making a ruling that allows the game to move forward for the session. I then research the issue outside of the game and if the ruling is determined to be incorrect after the fact, I'll let the players know about the correction and amend the situation in a future session.
When it comes to voices
I'm comfortable speaking in-character or in third person. Whichever will move the game forward and encourage engagement with the players will be the way to go in the moment. I typically prepare a few first person lines and a list of traits for my NPCs to help get into character.
InspiredGM's ideal table
My ideal table is one where the GM can introduce a scenario of the day and the players interact with each other to tell the story. I love putting challenges and plot twists into the game and enjoy seeing where the players can take it. Roleplaying is fun but group story telling is where the magic happens!

I love it when a player
engages with the other players at the table in a collaborative way. I play with a rule of cool approach to the rules, a yes-and approach to roleplaying and creative ways to solve problems in-game.
My table is not the place for...
player vs player, bad vibes, min/maxing and purely tactical combat. Let's have fun creating stories together!
