About Dave

I am relatively new to the TTRPG Community but have been a fan for years. I started playing in 2025 after finding a great community and then decided to jump into the GM seat. My first run of Alien RPG was a challenge and made me anxious but once I started I felt so comfortable and got some really good feedback from the players, especially as there were 2 regular GM's playing with over 60 years experience between them. I have studied different systems from the ever present D20, Year-Zero, Genesys, COC and many more I am currently writing a campaign set in the Resident Evil universe using the Genesys system with fully customised and interactive maps. If anyone would like to give this new GM a try I am willing to GM for free

How Dave runs games

I focus heavily on roleplay and player agency, giving players the space to explore, interact, and shape the story through their choices. I encourage natural character interaction and let scenes breathe, allowing the group to drive the narrative forward at their own pace. When a scenario has a defined path—such as in one-shots or cinematic adventures—I guide the story subtly and organically, nudging events in the right direction without breaking immersion or disrupting player flow. Combat can and will happen, but it’s never the sole focus. I prioritise atmosphere, story, and character development, aiming to create memorable moments rather than constant dice-rolling. My goal is for players to feel invested, empowered, and genuinely present in the world we’re building together. I’m always open to feedback and suggestions and see every game as a chance to refine my craft and deliver a better experience at the table.

I deal with rules issues by...

Keeping the game moving. If a rules question comes up, I’ll make a fair call in the moment and look it up after the session if needed. My priority is flow, immersion, and making sure everyone stays engaged rather than stopping play to debate mechanics.

I prep by

Preparing locations, NPC motivations, and possible outcomes rather than fixed scripts. I like having the world ready to respond to player choices, using strong visual aids, sound, and atmosphere to support the story while leaving room for improvisation.

My games focus on...

Immersion, atmosphere, and player agency. I focus on character-driven stories where player choices matter, scenes are allowed to breathe, and tension builds naturally through the world reacting to your actions. Combat happens when it makes sense, but the heart of the game is story, mood, and meaning

Dave's ideal table

My table is relaxed, respectful, and immersive, with a strong focus on shared storytelling. Players who enjoy roleplay, character interaction, and letting scenes unfold naturally will feel right at home here. I encourage collaboration, curiosity, and in-character decision-making. Players are given space to explore, discuss plans, and follow their instincts, while I ensure the world responds in a believable and engaging way. The general vibe is cinematic rather than mechanical — tension and drama come from atmosphere and consequences, not from rushing encounters or constant combat. This table suits players who value immersion, are comfortable leaning into their character, and enjoy being part of a cooperative story. Whether you’re experienced or new to the system, as long as you’re engaged, respectful, and open to the tone of the game, you’ll fit in well.

I am for a vibe that's...

I am for a vibe that’s relaxed, immersive, and collaborative. This is a table where players can take their time, think out loud, get into character, and let tension build naturally without feeling rushed or judged.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

If you’re into immersive storytelling, cinematic moments, slow-burn tension, and games where atmosphere and character matter as much as the mechanics, you’re going to love my table.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player leans into their character, asks questions about the world, and follows their instincts rather than looking for the “right” answer. Moments where players surprise themselves — or each other — are usually where the best scenes come from.
