About Greg

I'm a Scottish Actor and Voice Actor with a huge passion for telling interesting collaborative stories. The first time I played D&D was a bit of a disaster, and put me off the game for a long, long time. But, watching Dimension 20 finally spurred me to give it another chance, and, with no one else being willing to DM, I stepped up, and fell in love with it. I had even stepped away from acting for a few years, but it was through playing D&D I regained the confidence and drive to pursue acting again and now I have my degree. Pretty crazy. I'd always done improv, and always loved fantasy, so it just felt right. Since 2022 I've been playing weekly games of D&D, and falling deeper and deeper in love with the game and all that it can do. My acting ability, training and instincts allow me to bring my A game to my games, and I always want to do what tells the best story, even when at times, it makes me cry. It's soppy and ridiculous, but I genuinely want as many people as possible to experience the game, so they can feel what I've felt from the game.

I became a GM because

Stories are important. Hearing them, telling them. There's nothing better than working with others to tell the best story you can.

How Greg runs games

First things first, I'm an actor by profession, and the drama school training absolutely bleeds into how I play and what I like. I'm a big roleplay and improv DM, I like telling, rich, satisfying stories in a collaborative way. I'm not here to drag people through a story, I'm here to tell it with them, and make sure they know that everyone at the table is just as important as each other. So expect a lot of roleplay, a lot of twists and turns and some emotional highs and lows. I'm also a massive RPG guy and min maxer, so, in terms of combat, I really want my players to feel capable. They are the heroes of the story, after all. I love giving my players powerful and fun items and abilities (partly so I can fight YOU with some crazy items and abilities), and I use combat moreso as a highlight moment for a massive point of action. I do have a confession. I don't like dungeons. Room after room of low stakes combat isn't for me. Maybe I just haven't found the right one, or my style. So don't expect massive multi-session dungeon dives, I'd rather throw you all in a courtroom trying to defend a party member whose been accused of tax fraud, or face an arena full of dragons. I love homebrew. The more the merrier. Let's make the world feel like it's really ours. Just check with me first that it's not too OP.

I am for a vibe that's...

Fun. It's a game at the end of the day, let's not take it all too seriously.

I love it when a player

Is willing to support others or take a backseat when their character is not the main focus of a moment. Knowing that everyone will have their own moments and not always trying to be the focus is a major green flag.

I think min/maxing...

Can be great for roleplaying. Every character should have things they excel at, balanced with weaknesses.
