How Desmond Confoy runs games
I run games that feel like open-world fantasy RPGs—the kind where exploration is rewarded and the world reacts to your choices. Every town, NPC, faction, and rumor is part of something larger. There’s always a mystery to chase, a secret to uncover, or a story thread waiting if you tug on it. Expect... Fleshed out worlds. Every NPC has a name, a motive, and something to add. Choices change relationships and future events. Exploration encouraged. Side quests tie back into the main narrative. Nothing is just filler. Dynamic Combat. Battles are tactical, cinematic, and influenced by environment, improvisation, and character decisions—not just “I hit again.” Consequences Matter. Actions shape alliances, politics, reputations, and future story arcs. But also character and player character death, actions have repercussions. High Player Agency. It's all about you. You're building this. I don’t railroad. You choose the direction, and the world responds. Whether you want to unravel conspiracies, build kingdoms, forge rivalries, or chase ancient magic, the story grows with you. My goal is to make every player feel like the main character of their own arc, inside a world big enough for everyone.

I prep by
All about prep. Constantly prepping for a next session, love that DM homework.
Rules are...
As written, however, clever interpretations are highly encouraged! (no spell components or encumbrance though)
When it comes to voices
All the voices all the time! Theater training comes in handy. If I panic it usually comes out Irish though, working on that
Desmond Confoy's ideal table
My tables are lighthearted and fun! But the worlds are deep, intriguing, and mysterious. Fun can be whimsical, but fun can also be serious, intense, and exciting. I like a table that feels like it's creating the story that matters most to them. I'd have just as much fun letting you set up a trade route between kingdoms to earn extra gold as I would having you track down the biggest ,baddest monster and jump into two sessions of crunchy high level combat. This is your world to live in.

I am for a vibe that's...
I'd have to say that my worlds and style are more Dimension 20 than Critical Roll? If that's helpful?
I love it when a player
Finds a perfect balance between character-driven choices and player-driven fun.
My perfect party mix is
Kettle corn, white cheddar popcorn, seasoned pretzels, and maybe a mini peanut butter cup in there too.
