About Dylan

Hi! I’m Dylan. 📖 Storyteller 🙋🏾‍♂️ POC 🌈 Queer 🧠 Neurodivergent Let's tell a story! That's the philosophy behind my approach to Dungeons & Dragons. I want to work with you and your companions at the table to craft a compelling narrative that you'll remember for long after we’ve put the dice away. I've been playing D&D for eight years. I've been a DM for two, but boy, do I regret picking it up so late. This is the most fun I've ever had playing a game. I want to share that joy with you. Whether it's your first game of D&D or whether you're a grizzled veteran, what we all want is that sense of adventure and accomplishment we felt when first rolling dice or reading that first fantasy novel. My games are highly narrative-driven and reward those who invest in their character and the world we build together. We don't just sling dice here. We discover how your character fits into the world. If that sounds good to you, I invite you to come and sit at my table. There's always room for one more!

I started running games because...

I realized that the best stories aren't just written or read on your own. They're experienced together. I love world-building, but the real joy comes from opening that world up to a group of players and seeing how their decisions bring it all to life.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Immersive, collaborative, and dynamic. I build living worlds, prioritize player agency over rigid scripts, and adapt the story in real-time based on your character's choices.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Reading sci-fi, fantasy, and astronomy, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or spending time outdoors. When I'm out in the world, I love finding inspiration on hiking trails, at art galleries, and in local museums.

How Dylan runs games

📖 Narrative-driven: plenty of room for roleplay, character growth, a dash of pathos, a touch of whimsy, and a bit of a challenge. 👩🏼‍🤝‍🧑🏾 Collaboration: teamwork and group spotlight over high-optimization or solo-play builds. 👧🏼 Personalized: tailored adventures that incorporate players’ characters, as well as player feedback. ⚖ Rules-as-written: adhering to the rules for balance, while leaving some room for “Rule of Cool.” You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll perhaps replace your dice. Most of all, you'll have fun and look forward to the next batch of stories we tell together!

I once ran a session...

In which the adventurers vanquished an eldritch horror by singing “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

My games focus on...

Collaborative world-building, player agency, and immersive storytelling. I give you the freedom to drive the narrative, bring your character’s place in the world to life, and experience an adventure where every decision leaves a lasting mark.

Rules are...

A strong foundation that keeps the game fair, consistent, and predictable, with just enough flexibility left open for the Rule of Cool when a truly awesome idea strikes.

Dylan's ideal table

A safe, friendly, and supportive space where creative expression comes first! My ideal table is filled with kind, considerate players who take chances, embrace character identity (no matter how unpolished!), and support one another’s ideas. We celebrate bold choices over "perfect" plays, engage in genuine character interactions, and lift each other up every session.

I am for a vibe that's...

Collaborative and uplifting, first and foremost. A table where the players, even if imperfectly, run with the ideas of their companions. Where the entire adventure is one extended brainstorming session, and no idea is dismissed out of hand.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Your character's story, as well as your companions’. There are always going to be plenty of opportunities to roll the dice. What I hope you take away from my table is the feeling that you've just made a friend in the people sitting across from you.

I love it when a player

Takes chances! Adventurers who only play by the book rarely enter into myth and legend. Woo that dragon, even if your Charisma modifier is a big fat zero. Deliver a compelling speech, and who knows? You might have just caught that dragon on a really good day.
