About AJ
I've been playing D&D 5e for 10 years now, and been a forever DM for about 8 of those years. I've introduced a lot of friends and family to the game who have fallen head over heels with role playing and rolling dice. I've run many one shots over the years and have kept an ongoing game going for 8 years! Looking to start sharing my GMing with those outside my usual sphere of people, and get some new experiences as a storyteller!

I became a GM because
I love telling stories and getting to tell stories with my friends. It's a lot of work at times but watching them interact with the world and each other is amazing to witness. As long as they're having fun it's worth it every time.
I got started GMing...
We were all new to D&D, and those of us in my group who were writers decided to each take a stab at DMing a one shot. For my birthday I decided to run a Greek Mythology Campaign set in ancient Greece. My players latched onto it, and we're still playing it 8 years and counting...
My favorite books are
One Piece Percy Jackson and the Olympians
How AJ runs games
I'm looking to run homebrew mini campaigns or one shots for newer players and beginners. usually set in scenarios with minimal backstory or lore required, and with less stressful puzzles and encounters to make things easier for first time players (of course more power to those who can craft their own backstories). I essentially want people to get a feel for mechanics of games and role playing comfortably so they can find a nice flow with their fellow players. Show them that they can do anything when they play theses games. I'm a big fan of big risk moves that tell a compelling story, making choices that remain true to your character, and of course doing things for the bit and shenanigans; because at the end of the day it's all just a game. I'm also very into the idea of running a longer homebrew campaign for players who have gotten the feel for playing and want a set schedule to play D&D. I'm looking to expand into Daggerheart, D&D 2024 rule sets, and other TTRPG games; but for now I'm confident in running 5e games!

I prep by
Spending weeks making notes and stats for what I know or think my players will do, and throwing 90% of them out the window when they decide to improvise
My games focus on...
A balanced mix of role playing and combat. If it's a longer campaign there will be plenty of opportunities for both as well as chances to create backstories for characters that can be melded into the world and potentially explored.
Rules are...
1. Have Fun 2. Be respectful to everyone at the table 3. Don't be afraid to ask questions 4. Don't be shy to role play 5. Don't be afraid of failure, let the dice tell a story 6. Stay true to your character 7. Remember it's just a game
AJ's ideal table
My tables usually have up to 5-6 players. I typically have a lot of female or non-binary players. All walks of life welcome, my tables are LGBTQ+ friendly. The vibes are always "rolling dice with friends" we tell a story together, shares some jokes, and have a lot of laughs at shenanigans we inflict upon ourselves.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you liked reading books like Percy Jackson, or played games such as Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy then you'll like my table.
I love it when a player
Knows or understands the answer to some sort of riddle or problem, BUT their character does not so they either: see if their character can figure it out in game through their own means, or let things happen and see where the story progresses.
My perfect party mix is
Gals, Dudes, and non-binary bros are the usual mix of my tables. I'm an ally to the LGBTQ+ community so my usual tables IRL have a lot of members of the alphabet mafia present.
