About Leon

I'm a magicians grab bag press molded into the shape of a person. I've done a little bit of everything, wondered paths far and wide. I've seen the bright and the dark of the world, and fought dearly to keep a sense of whimsy. I have a deep love of telling stories, and a flair for the dramatic. I'm an actor, a programmer, a veteran, a writer, and a terrible singer, but I let none of that stop me. I've been running, playing, and designing TTRPG's for just under twenty years. D&D and White Wolf splats have been my mainstays, but I've been branching out to systems like Legend in the Mist and Daggerheart.

People are always surprised when I tell them

Much about my past. My life has followed a strange path. For example, I once hung out with David Della Rocco of Boondock Saints fame when he was three sheets to the wind. He gave me his phone number, but I never called him.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Innovative, Thrilling, Engaging. I asked a few of my previous players, and those were the common answers! I like to come up with new things, keep people on their toes, and have a flair for the dramatic, what can I say ^_^

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing video games, reading, acting, fencing, or painting. Honestly, I really need to learn to do only.... 5 hobbies at a time? Is that too many?

How Leon runs games

My style has an emphasis on role playing and character moments, taking time to spotlight different players and incorporate player stories and decisions into the game world. Players will experience a living breathing world that exists beyond their characters, but is also imminently responsive to them. Conflict comes in many forms, from combat, to puzzles, to social deduction and intrigue, all designed to build upon the narrative we're making together! Difficulty and lethality are things that vary by game, based off of player feedback at game start.

Leon's ideal table

My ideal table alternates between laughter, tears, joy, anger, and relief. I want my players to have fun first and foremost, but to go on emotion journeys with me. To tell stories that will stay with them for years, and to make long lasting friendships. People come and go from tables, that's just the nature of the game. But I hope to engender a place of respect and mutual support, where every player is a fan of each others characters.

I love it when a player

Embraces failure. It's easy to run away from failure, and lose the heart of a story. I don't want a failed roll to feel like a skipped turn, I want it to feel like a dramatic turn, another arc in the story we're telling.
