About Maple Moose RPGs
I've been telling stories my whole life but in the world of DMing I'm fairly new. I have DMed many one-shots and one full campaign. I've been playing TTRPGs for the last 10ish years but feel as if there's always more to learn! I strongly believe that TTRPGs are a collaborative business where the DM and the players work together to discover an amazing story. I prefer roleplay heavy games where the combat seasons the game rather than drives it and when I play systems like DND 5e I definitely lean into the RPG aspect over all else.

I got started GMing...
because I just kept thinking it seemed like SO much fun. And it is! Now I consider myself a forever DM. I just enjoy it more than being a player if I'm honest!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
flexible, funny and fair.
When I'm not running games I'm...
busy being a mom. I have two beautiful little kids who pretty much dominate all my free time. They're absolutely the best though. We've already started playing Hero Kids. My ultimate goal is to make sure they're little TTRPGs addicts too!
How Maple Moose RPGs runs games
My focus as a GM is always going to be uncovering the best story possible. I don't see myself as the one telling the story but rather the one helping the players tell the story. To me combat is a tool to enhance the story and should never be the primary focus of any game.

I deal with rules issues by...
being open to correction but ultimately being the one who makes the final decision. I'm human, I might miss or misunderstand something. However, the rules in some systems (DND 5e for example) are meant to be bent so I reserve the right to bend where needed and where it fits.
Rules are...
a tool meant to facilitate not dictate how the game unfolds.
When it comes to voices
I absolutely can't do them. I'm totally fine if players want to do cool voices but it's not something I'm particularly talented at.
Maple Moose RPGs's ideal table
I'll be honest, I'm not a rule shark. I do play a bit fast and loose with the rules at times if it means facilitating a better experience for the players. I love roleplaying and players who love to roleplay will always be welcome and happy at my table. My games tend to lean into horror vibes, however, somehow my table almost always dissolves into silliness with a hint of dark.

I love it when a player
can take initiative and isn't afraid to really get into character.
I think it's a red flag when players...
would rather punch before ask questions. So much of the fun in a game is finding ways around a problem that don't include killing stuff.
I think min/maxing...
is tiresome. The more flawed a character, the more fun they are! Having characters that are overpowered and basically mini-gods is just kind of boring!
