About Will Parker
Hi! My name's Will. I've been playing tabletop rpgs for over thirty years and I hope to continue playing until the day I am no longer capable of rolling dice. While heroic fantasy rpgs like Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder are my usual fare, I do enjoy exploring other genres and systems. I've recently become a fan of Powered by the Apocalypse and Forged in the Dark style games. I think what fascinates me most about this hobby are the stories that develop organically from play. I'm not talking about specific plots, character arcs, or action-packed set-pieces, but rather the moments that develop as a natural result of character interaction (or occasionally from the vagaries of a random dice roll). Those are the moments I game for. When I'm not gaming, I'm usually busy being dad to the hordes of goblins that live in my house, which is even more fun than gaming, but a lot more exhausting.

I got started GMing...
I grew up in the years before the internet, so connecting with other gamers wasn't always easy. I wanted to play D&D and other rpgs and the only way I was going to get to do that was if I ran the games for my friends. Through this experience I learned the joys of bringing new people into the hobby.
My favorite books are
Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. But that's probably cheating, so I will go with Glen Cook's "Black Company" series.
How Will Parker runs games
I am fairly flexible as a GM and will try to lean into the player's expectations. If the players want a more combat oriented game, I am willing to provide it. If they want more roleplay opportunities, I am happy to provide that as well. I've run sessions where the dice are never rolled and I've run other sessions where the first thing I said was "Roll for initiative." As a GM, I am receptive to player input as to the type of stories they are interested in. I like to see characters evolve and grow through play. Just understand that there are usually 2-4 other players at the table as well, and it's my job to make sure everyone feels like their character matters. While the games I run can be serious, I am not an overly serious person. I like a laugh and I play games to have a good time, and I hope my players do too.
