About Cassandra
I discovered D&D nearly 10 years ago when I started watching Critical Role, and immediately fell in love with it. I went out to buy all the books, numerous sets of dice, and miniatures. I set to work crafting my own homebrew world; drawing world maps, raising pantheons, and sculpting a story for my first players. I have learned so much, and found my style. I love crafting epic stories, full of mystery and tragedy, laughs and tears. I encourage strong roleplay and reward my players for creative thinking. I love giving my players the freedom and tools needed to forge their own stories within the world I give them. I welcome all types of players, from patient veterans to eager newcomers! I became a GM because
I was inspired by Mathew Mercer and Mark Hulmes. I really wanted to play, but no one I knew was a DM. So I became one myself. 10 Years later, I am now a forever DM.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I was a member of the Calgary Brotherhood of Magic for two years. I performed on stage at the Calgary Stampede.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing Destiny 2 or watching Netflix.
How Cassandra runs games
Since the very beginning, I have been crafting my own, intricate homebrew campaigns. Whether its bluffing your way into a political negotiation, sharing backstories around the campfire, or facing a monologuing villain, I believe that strong roleplay brings the game to life more than any miniatures or battle maps. I run high-stakes combat encounters, with powerful and intelligent foes. I also enjoy adding interesting mechanics one might find in an MMO raid, forcing players to get creative, and breaking up the monotony of "I move, I attack twice, I end my turn". Accompanying all of my games is a custom soundtrack, adding cinematic atmosphere.

I deal with rules issues by...
Coming to a solution that is both fair for the other players and the spirit of the game, yet still allows the player to have fun and be rewarded for creativity.
My favorite trope is...
"With great sacrifice, those who are lost can be saved".
Rules are...
What allow us to play the game, but should be seen as guidelines if they subtract from the fun.
Cassandra's ideal table
My tables are are a place to come together with friends, new and old, to tell a great story together. I like laughter and creativity. While my stories tend to be grand, sweeping epics, they do not lack for hijinks, chaos, and merriment. Players who join me should be ready for both.

I love it when a player
Does something creative and unexpected.
I think metagaming...
Is fine in moderation. I tend to use a lot of Homebrew content, so I don't mind the occasional use of metagaming.
I think min/maxing...
Is fascinating! Utilizing the rules and tweaking things just right to get a super strong combo or build? I think its creative in its own way, and should be rewarded.
