About The JOAT
My name is John but you can call me The JOAT! The John of all trades! I have been GM-ing now for approximately 6 years for friends and family, which include my own children who are 5 and 9 years old! Recently I have began running a local game at the high school for some of the students to introduce them to the hobby. I am a firm believer in one rule, and that's "The Rule of Cool." If it sounds cool, seems like it would be cool, and the whole party is cool with it, LET IT HAPPEN! I thrive with new players who have little to no experience and enjoy reminding them that in this hobby, there's no wrong way to play! I have played within the Dungeons and Dragons model mostly but will be exploring the possibilities of Daggerheart. I myself and still relatively new player in the world of GM-ing so I feel like that relates to players just getting started. I cannot wait to go on the next adventure with you!

When I am not running a game, I am working on passion project in photography and art. I also love trading card games such as Pokemon and have been a collector since I was in middle school! I have three little ones that also keep my on my toes and help me stay creative with their active imaginations!
How The JOAT runs games
Greetings! In my games you will find a nice mixture of character interactions and combat. I love mysteries and searching throughout the adventure to make great discoveries such as underlying secrets that could lead you to clues about the BBEG or discovering a new feat unlocked within a backstory. I try to push for team building and exploration over combat, but when it is time for combat, ready those weapons and spell slots and be prepared to tell me with all your heart how you fully intend to take down the mutation that is a 2-headed clone of Cryovain in the Forgotten Realms!
