About QXander
I'm a Tabletop RPG enthusiast! I've been GM-ing(poorly) for around 6 years, and actually being a good GM for 3! I love all things Fantasy and some things sci-fi. I've played a lot of D&D 5E, and my most recent special interest is the Cyberpunk Red TTRPG. I'm also a complicated boardgame superfan! So I love to learn all the rules details of an RPG but I'm always a fan of creative improvisation. I've been doing comedic improv for 7 years, through highschool and college. I have a degree in Interactive Media and Game Development from Worcester Polytechnic institute(With a concentration in Writing!) As part of my capstone project, I was the producer and lead writer for a Renaissance themed campaign setting for D&D5E. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the book if you'd like! Telling interactive stories with a group of fun people is my passion. I think that ttrpgs are one of the best forms of collaborative storytelling out there! I love to make fun worlds and stories, and I love bringing them to life! I'll always try and tell you "Yes, and" instead of "no" but I always know where to draw the line. If you're interested, then I'd love to game with you!

I got started GMing...
In highschool when me and my friends decided it was high time we started playing D&D. I loved it htne and I've loved it ever since!
My favorite system of all Time is
Cyberpunk Red! I love the balance of Mechanics and Roleplay! I love the economy of time/money/humanity and how players can decide to manage it. I'm a firm believer that there is no bad party composition in Cyberpunk!
People are always surprised when I tell them
Boo!
How QXander runs games
I love some fun roleplay, and I always try to go along with people's silly ideas. I like to mix the roleplay and mechanics as evenly as I can. I'd say one of my specialties is working each player character into the narrative of the campaign. I love to take a character's backstory, and use it to get the character's player individually invested in the story, as well as interested in the overall narrative of the campaign. My main goal when GM-ing is to create a satisfying flow of Player Choice -> Tension and Conflict -> Big Moments -> Player Choice -> etc. I'm a big fan of players that try to act truly to how their character would, but that's really hard! So don't stress it if you're still learning! Combat wise my skill set is mixed. I'm an excellent level designer. I always like to include interesting environmental elements to a battle that clever players can take advantage of. My goal is always to build tactical high-stakes combat... But my normal group has a few powergamers that occasionally to scale faster than I expect. But that's a challenge I love to take on! I like to think of my combat scenarios as puzzles for the players to solve through violence. That puzzle aspect also bleeds into the out of combat choices that players need to make. One of the reasons I've been so interested in Cyberpunk Red is it gives a lot of space for player choice to be severely impactful on their character. In combat and out, I'm all about player choices having consequences, both good and bad.

My games focus on...
Roleplay & Character AND Mechanics & Combat. My games are meant to be challenges for my players to overcome through teamwork, clever roleplay, and smart use of mechanics. I intend to make my games hard and punishing for mistakes, to hopefully create fun feelings of tension and risk/reward!
Rules are...
Important! But not scripture. I'm always willing to bend the rules a little bit, especially outside of combat. With that in mind I do balance my campaigns around my interpretation of the rules. I'm willing to discuss any rule changes, but please keep in mind that I can only change so much on the fly
QXander's ideal table
I like a table that is excited to play their characters and are willing to work together! Collaboration and teamwork are key for making sure everyone has a fun time in a TTRPG. I like a table that can flow between silly roleplay and serious action.

I think metagaming...
Is allowed! But I'm gonna mix things up on you whenever I can. So don't rely to heavy on metagaming or it will bite you in the rear
I think min/maxing...
Is completely Valid! A great way to play any game, not just TTRPGs! However its important check with the party that is ok with minmaxing as a whole. Its easy for a more casual player to feel like they're playing the game "wrong" when they're at a table full of min/maxed death machines.
