About Jessica
I began playing Dungeons and Dragons 5e in 2015. Since then I have played and DM'd multiple long-term campaigns and one-offs games within the Wizards of the Coast Cannon world. In 2020, I began creating my own world and have since led a long-term campaign in that world as well as numerous one offs. I have created speical event games, played one-on-one games, and worked with every experience level from veterans all the way down to beginner children. I am currently only fluent in English, but would be interested in playing a polyglotal game is any ones also speaks french, spanish, or portugese and has a LOT of patience and would want to be language practice buddies. We can even "make it story".

I became a GM because
My husband and I started playing together in 2015. Just the two of us 3 characters each with the Phandelver Starter pack. I love being on both sides of the table. I've even played a charated while Dm'ing numerous times. Its so hard to get started or to find a game when you want one. So here I am.
My favorite books are
Currently: The Neon Gods series by Katee Roberts. Anything by Sarah J Mass. Archie Sheridan & Gretchen Lowell Series by Chelsea Cain. I'm trudging through Sanderson. Previously: Harry Potter, Narnia, Anything by Tolkein. Abarat by Clive Barker, A Wrinkle in Time (the series)
When I'm not running games I'm...
A mother, a wife, and an artist. I was recently laid off from my full time position where I worked in Logistics for 8 years. With that change I finally have the time to pursue two of my greatest hobbies, Dungeons and Dragons and storytelling.
How Jessica runs games
I do not see the games I lead as exclusively mine. I want the play style to be lead by the players and the characters. However, I tend to lean into Roleplay options with high-stakes combat available when things go "wrong". My priority is making the story interesting and fun for everyone at the table. Myself included.

I once ran a session...
well really two sessions for my friends bachleorette party. I built custom characters with back stories and had them get screwed in Fae Gaes, "The Hangover" style, complete with random baby. Yes, it was a total rip off. I even used an old map of the Las Vegas strip as a table map for the game.
My games focus on...
ENJOYMENT. If we aren't having fun, why are we playing? I play by the rule of cool, but I also love a table when the juice isn't flowing. Even more so, I love it when the characters drive the plot, but I'm not afraid to keep us on track, like an old timey car ride at an amusemnt park.
Rules are...
meant to be broken. Some rules I care about, those are the ones we all agree on. If we don't all agree on it, we will come up with something that: works, is story, and is cool. This is meant to be fun. If the majority of the groups wants to be rules heavy. Majority rule says thats how it is, too.
Jessica's ideal table
I like players that know what they want out of a session, and will engage to see it happen. I do my best to split time evenly, but if players don't advocate for their characters, I can't help you. I can be crass, I know a little about a lot, my filters are skewed by too much internet as a kid. I am also kind, creative, flexible (not physically), and very funny. I get along with most people, as long as they're trying to get along, but I don't tolerate cruelty out of game. Consent is Key.

I think it's a red flag when players...
refuse to take notes. Its one thing if you dont think your character would remember, however if you just aren't paying attention and dont want to connect, please pick another table. That is so boring. If you're here, you're not above it all. Invest.
I think metagaming...
Kinda ruins the fun. It depends on the context. If you're character wasn't there, they dont know the info, but if the action is moving forward, they've been clued in. But again, Rule Of Cool. If you can make it story, I can probably make it happen.
I think min/maxing...
Fine. Play your character. This is your story, I'm just writing it down and playing the backgroung characters.
