About Brian
Hi my name is Brian and I'm hoping to be your next GM. I have over 10 years of GM experience and well over 25 years of TTRPG experience when including my time as a player. I enjoy telling a story and letting players become heroes/villains. I'm here to make sure everyone at my table is having fun. It's important for me that the players, whether they are newcomers or veterans of the game, truly feel that their choices matter.

I got started GMing...
Like most other GMs I started because no one else wanted to take the plunge. I'm the friend that always is given the rules to the new board game and asked to figure out how to play. So it's always felt like the most natural thing to do.
My favorite books are
The Wheel of Time series, The Dresden Files, right now i'm enjoying John Scalzi's books.
When I'm not running games I'm...
spending time with my family.
How Brian runs games
I try to keep the theme and playstyle true to the campaign that I'm running. High-stakes combat is important but not for every single encounter. I like to make sure the players are enjoying themselves. Whether you're into heavy RP, or are just in it to be a murder hobo, I'll work with you to make sure you are having fun at my table.

I prep by
reviewing what happened in the last session. Re-reading the current chapter notes. I also like to prep a few random encounters that may or may not be used.
Rules are...
Important to enforce but sometimes they need to bent to allow great stories to work within the world we have created. Let's have fun and explore it together.
When it comes to voices
I try my best and have as much fun as possible while doing them. They don't always come across how I wanted, but as long as the players enjoy them, then I'm happy.
Brian's ideal table
My ideal table is a group of players that are all there to have fun. They understand that when it's someone else's time to shine, the others know to sit back and let that person have their fun. Everyone helps each other out. It doesn't always have to be jokes and laughter, a great table makes even the most serious situations entertaining and enjoyable. Conversation happens when needed and no one talks over anyone else.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
dad jokes and bad puns
I love it when a player
Takes a step outside of the comfort zone and tries something new. It's so rewarding to watch that happen at the table.
I think metagaming...
is always going to happen, but I think it's important for the players to be aware that if they are really wanting to roleplay things out, then the metagaming will just get in the way for the fun. Not always but most of the time.
