About Dori Schendell
I'm Dori, and I have been GMing a variety of games for over 20 years. I have experience with Old World of Darkness (Mostly Vampire: The Masquerade, Vampire: The Dark Ages, and Hunter: The Reckoning). I've played all the editions of D&D, and DMed everything from 3rd to 5th edition. I prefer 3.5. I've also written and run my own original fantasy LARP for over ten years. I love trying out new games and building interesting stories with players.

My favorite books are
I think right now, I would say the books I am most obsessed with are the Murderbot Diaries.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Reading, writing novels, and taking care of a 5-year-old little goblin of my own.
How Dori Schendell runs games
I am a role-play and story-focused GM who includes combat as a part of the story and the growth of the characters in my game. I run very open-world campaigns where the players will never feel like they are on train tracks. The choices the players make and the actions they take have a real impact on how the story unfolds.

Rules are...
A scaffolding that helps tell the story, but should be overlooked when they get in the way.
When it comes to voices
I only do the silly ones.
Dori Schendell's ideal table
My table is story first, and I am the kind of GM who will use a player's background against... to enhance their personal journey. The more a player gives me, the more they get back in return. I want to tell the table's story, and I see that as a cooperative exercise.

I think metagaming...
more often than not takes away the fun of the game. It's usually disrespectful, both to the players and the GM.
