About Howler

I am a 21 year old university student in my last year of uni studying musical theatre. I have loved playing dnd and have been playing since I was a kid, starting from secondary school at the age of 15 and would love nothing more than to make it my full time job. I want to try and create worlds and stories that people can enjoy and marvel at not only with my imagination but also my players to form worlds and stories in every possible way. I have played games of primarily dnd but I have also played in games of other systems such as Kids on brooms, the avatar the last air-bender TTRPG (which is a powered by the apocalypse game) and several others in one shots and short campaigns. I have GMed many games over my time, playing these games both in person and online. I have had long term games lasting over several months up to over a year long and shorter games ranging from 1 session to 4 or 5 in various worlds and settings, both of my own creation and adapting other worlds. I by no means think I'm a perfect GM, in fact I know I have along way to go but I would genuinely love to nothing more than to gain more experience and learn how to better my abilities as a GM.

How Howler runs games

As a GM, I prefer to focus on story and world building as I want my players to feel immersed in the campaign. Additionally, I do try to make my combat challenging yet fun for my players through this focus. I want to achieve an environment where my players have completely left the real world for the duration of the session, a place they can escape to and actively want to return to. I achieve this immersion through vivid descriptions of environments and NPCs, immersive sound effects and voice acting, realistic and flexible character interactions, as well as emotional climaxes and cliff hangers.

Featured Prompts

I deal with rules issues by...

talking through what the players want and finding a healthy compramise

My games focus on...

having as much fun as possible

Rules are...

a guide but can easily be overruled for the rule of cool.

Howler's ideal table

My ideal table is where there is a healthy combo of players looking for plot and adventure and having chaotic fun. I love nothing more then players that want to develop their characters with each other to create a true party of adventurers no matter the world or the story.

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

chaotic yet progressive. I love when being a chaotic character doesn't hinder development.

I love it when a player

allows other players to have the spotlight and takes the spotlight when the story allows. i try and give all my players the best possible chance to stand out as an individual and for all of the party to stand together.

I think min/maxing...

is great. at the end of the day we are playing a game, if you enjoy min/maxing then go ahead it just means i can be meaner with the enemies i sent at you.
