About Michael

I'm Michael from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. I've been playing D&D 5e for a decade and been a DM for about six years. I have not looked too hard into the new version of the rules and from what I've seen so far, I'm in no rush to do so. I've done a mix of official WOTC content and home-brew. I DM'd Tomb of Annihilation in 2019-2020, a home-brew campaign in 2020-2023, and I am currently going through Curse of Strahd with some friends and family.

I got started GMing...

I really wanted to play D&D with friends, but we had a super-strict DM and games stopped being fun after a while. I wanted to run games that welcome different skill levels, perspectives, and play styles.

How Michael runs games

I follow the rules, but can be flexible if a player can justify a rule-bend. Big believer in the "rule of cool". I try to be serious, but many games end up as loosy-goosy fun adventures. Big into role-play and improv interactions. I'm not super into combat, but I can still craft an entertaining scenario. I tend to more focus on lore, character interactions, and puzzle solving. I do need players to be on the same page with each other's needs and red lines (i.e. triggers, equitable play time, etc).
