About Matt Jags
I've been a lifelong gamer, video games, board games, gamifying mundane parts of my life for amusement, life's just better when you're gaming. I've been playing TTRPGs for over 2 years now. After being DnD curious for years watching actual play and being a huge fan of Dropout's Brennan Lee Mulligan it wasn't until after playing BG3 and getting to visually understand the pacing, rolls and saves and the DnD stat-blocks and move sets that I felt comfortable enough to make the leap. By chance I was chatting with my good friend and colleague about BG3 and EXU and he invited me to sit in on his campaign. I'm so fortunate to have friends who've been collecting minis, rolling for 20+ years (one for 30+ years), with a dope gaming table set-up, take me under their wing. Without their support and knowledge I don't know if I would've been confident enough or had access to so many books to start playing let alone start DMing. We've added some of my friends to the group as well running various campaigns/one-shots, I look forward to using my resources and knowledge running a campaign for you!

How Matt Jags runs games
I lean towards RAW with a healthy dose of RAI when it's a situationally ambiguous moment, and most importantly not breaking the game. We're here to have fun and tell a great story, I'm not going to lord over the game and litigate the rules at the expense of grinding things to a halt. I find that most rules are cut and dry, and anything that has nuance can be handled with a quick vibe check of RAI in the moment. The most important job I have as a DM is RP'ing grounded characters to make your world come to life. That being said, I don't expect to be winning an Oscar for my portrayal of a tortured NPC, or getting a job for Blizzard doing voice-work on their next big project. But neither should you! Come to the table, play your character to the best of your ability and let's have a good time. I love to host games with deep exploration and thrilling combat-forward campaigns. If you're looking to feel powerful, risk it all and slay dragons I'm the DM for you. I try to bring a strong level of battle tactics to my encounters. I use a combination of as-written official campaigns, home-brew encounters and expanded content books like MCDM to bring depth and variety to each campaign. Technical Stuff: I run everything with D&D Beyond I share all of my content there in the campaign. Maps VTT works fine but I am a huge proponent of AboveVTT a free to use Chrome extension w/ an incredible VTT. lots of QOL stuff right in your browser. If you're down to install it, definitely do.
