I became a GM because
Like most GM's, I became one out of necessity. I had grown up with my father as my GM, but eventually his work would change and he wouldn't be able to play as much. As a result, I started GMing for my friends in middle school. Instantly, I fell in love with the worldbuilding and the drama.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Creative, for my original music, maps, and storytelling; Flexible, for adapting to their choices and play styles; and Passionate, because I bring energy and heart to every session I run.
When I'm not running games I'm...
…deeply immersed in the creative arts. I work as a Choir Director and teach private voice lessons, helping students find confidence and expression through music. Vocal performance and composition are a huge part of my life. I regularly write original pieces, both choral and instrumental.
How Lazaro runs games
I run deeply immersive games that blend cinematic storytelling with collaborative creativity. At my table, player agency is central, your character’s choices and backstory matter, and they’ll shape the world in meaningful ways. I build emotionally resonant narratives that don’t just react to players, they grow with them. Expect a strong emphasis on roleplay, atmosphere, and character-driven drama. NPCs are layered and lifelike, moral choices are rarely black and white, and every moment, whether it’s a whispered conversation in a back alley or a climactic duel on a crumbling bridge, is steeped in tone and intention. Combat at my table is tactical, weighty, and narratively grounded. Fights aren’t filler, they’re set pieces. Players are encouraged to think creatively and use the environment, with every encounter designed to challenge both strategy and storytelling instincts. Victory always feels earned. Above all, I am a player-focused GM who meets the table where it is. I'm collaborative, flexible, and passionate about helping players tell the kind of story they’ll remember for years.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Guillermo del Toro: rich with atmosphere, layered with emotion, and steeped in strange beauty. Expect haunting worlds, morally complex characters, and moments of wonder wrapped in shadows. Fantasy with heart, horror with purpose, stories that linger.
I once ran a session...
I once ran a session inspired by Flow, where the world was sinking and players climbed massive stone pillars to survive. They uncovered the Circle of the Deep, a group that sought to drown the world. In the end, they faced a powerful choice: sacrifice or let the world fall beneath the waves.
Rules are...
1. Don’t be a jerk. Kindness and respect come first. 2. Take turns speaking. Try not to talk over each other. 3. No metagaming. Stay in character and keep knowledge separate. 4. Rulings go in-game, discussions come after. If you disagree with a call, talk to me privately after the session.
Lazaro's ideal table
My ideal table is collaborative, character-driven, and emotionally engaged. I strive to create a space where players feel safe, respected, and inspired to dive deep into their characters and the world around them. Whether it’s a heavy moral dilemma, a dramatic roleplay scene, or a tense tactical encounter, my games are built on trust, mutual investment, and storytelling synergy. I love players who are curious, thoughtful, and generous with the spotlight, people who are just as excited about another player’s big moment as their own. You don’t need to be a professional actor or rules lawyer, just someone who loves story, respects the group, and wants to contribute. Ideal players at my table: 1. Care about both story and party dynamics. 2. Engage in roleplay, even if it’s quiet or subtle. 3. Are respectful, inclusive, and emotionally aware. 4. Love the occasional moment of epic drama. 5. Are okay with slow burns, character arcs, and consequences.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lord of the Rings, Studio Ghibli, or The Magnus Archives. Expect rich worldbuilding, emotional character arcs, cinematic moments, and just the right amount of creeping, narrative-driven horror.
I love it when a player
I love it when a player embraces tough choices that make the story more meaningful. Those moments of sacrifice, moral complexity, and hard decisions create the deepest, most memorable stories at the table. It’s where characters, and the game, truly come alive.
My perfect party mix is
My perfect party mix is a group of players who balance creativity with cooperation. People who love roleplaying their characters deeply but also enjoy strategic, tactical combat. A mix of big talkers and quiet thinkers, risk-takers and planners, all invested in building the story together.
