About Joseph
Hey. I’m Joseph-- a professional Dungeon Master and the author of several bestselling adventure modules on the Dungeon Masters Guild. I bring years of experience and contributions to the game—both as a storyteller and as a guide—crafting adventures that are immersive, emotionally resonant, and deeply respectful of the players who walk through them. My specialty lies in the Ravenloft Campaign Setting, particularly Curse of Strahd. I’ve spent years researching and expanding Barovia’s lore, and have developed a rich, compelling version of the campaign that honors the original module while introducing impactful twists, expanded character arcs, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a first-time adventurer or returning to the Mists for another round, you’ll find something new to love. But I’m more than just a DM—I’m a worldbuilder, teacher, and director. I believe that every table should feel safe and inspiring. I strive to create a space where players feel seen and heard, where creativity thrives, and where every session feels like a story worth remembering. When you sit down at my table, you can expect professionalism, structure, flexibility, and above all: care. You’ll feel welcome, supported, and excited to explore the world we've built together. Most importantly, you'll feel confident you can simply just enjoy the game you're paying for. Looking forward to telling great stories with you. Take care, friends. ❤️

I became a GM because
D&D has inspired me to be the best version of myself: to embrace fun, learn to laugh at myself, encourage others, and learn to share the spotlight. the opportunity to play in a safe and constructive way is one that I want to pay forward.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
immersive, patient, and thoughtful. I create rich worlds, support all play styles, and listen closely—crafting stories that feel personal, intentional, and unforgettable.
When I'm not running games I'm...
probably in the woodshop with Theophylus & Co, our home decor brand, or designing tabletop accessories for my side project, MagicallyMade. Both are passion projects born from a love of craftsmanship and storytelling. Beyond that, My wife and I travel with our camper van and work tattoo conventions!
How Joseph runs games
I run games with a professional, considerate, and patient approach. At my table, everyone is treated with the respect and care they deserve. I prioritize player safety and comfort above all, and I believe that powerful stories emerge when players feel protected—and are trusted in turn to protect the story they’re trying to tell. My role is to guide, not control. I set the tone, provide the structure, and help shape the world—but it's the players who lead the journey. I regularly check in one-on-one to make sure everyone feels heard, valued, and excited to be at the table. Your voice matters, and I make time to listen. Together, we create a symbiotic storytelling experience—one where your character’s growth, your choices, and your emotions are woven into the fabric of the narrative. This is, in my opinion, the most impactful way to play. If you’re looking for a DM who takes the game—and you—seriously, while still allowing room for fun, wonder, and exploration, I’d love to run a game for you.

My games focus on...
Real, in depth, immersive content that involves red hearings, full circle moments, concepts that might require critical thinking. I try to invoke a wide range of emotions in my games, creating opportunities for joy, fear, grief, and of course loads of humor!
Rules are...
Rules as written by standard. During session zero, I'll pose some different house rule options, and collaborate with my players to create or determine optional rules variants.
When it comes to voices
I take intentional care in choosing the voices for my characters, however I'm not always perfect with them. I've done this a long time, and my rule is: You can laugh at me, and I'll laugh with you. but don't laugh at each other... not everyone is comfortable with making fun of themselves- thats okay
Joseph's ideal table
My ideal table is built on trust, collaboration, and respect. I love players who are curious, emotionally invested, and excited to co-create the story. You don’t need to be a performer—just be present, be kind, and care about the world and the people at the table with you.

I love it when a player
Shows ways they are immersed in their character. voices, character flavor, backstories, goals, flaws, ideals. embrace your character!
I think it's a red flag when players...
The only red flag is when you infringe on other player's opportunity to enjoy the game. Emotions are real, and it's easy to get frustrated when things don't go your way. we can talk it through one-on-one for as long as you want... but there's never a reason to take it out on the DM or other players.
I think metagaming...
lame. I'm not against players researching the game they're playing and spoiling it for themselves, just know that D&D isn't about winning a pre-written adventure. its about the stories you create in the moment. If you can't separate what you know vs what your character knows, my table isn't for you.
