About me

Howdy y'all, and welcome, you magnificent nerds! I’m DMKilfoot (or DMK, or "Andrew" if you’re my mom, a bill collector, or someone who’s very lost). I’ve been herding cats—ahem, running TTRPGs—for over two decades, which means I’m old enough to remember when "THAC0" wasn’t just a weird noise you make after bad sushi. But hey, age brings wisdom! Or at least really strong opinions about dice rituals. After years of subjecting my friends and family to my nonsense, I’ve decided to branch out and inflict my DMing upon strangers—because let’s be real: strangers are just future accomplices you haven’t roped into a devil’s bargain yet. (From a safe, socially distanced, fully consensual table, of course.) WHAT TO EXPECT AT MY TABLE: - A fiercely LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and beginner-friendly circus. We’re here to punch monsters, talk in questionable accents, and occasionally remember how skill checks work. Respect is non-negotiable. So is laughing when the rogue inevitably sets something on fire. - A DM who’s equal parts "rules lawyer for the people" and "rule of cool advocate. "RAW” is great, but if you want to backflip off a dragon while reciting a sonnet, I’ll at least consider it. (Terms and conditions apply. Void where prohibited. May require a deal with a sketchy fey entity.) - D&D 2024 rules… with a side of homebrew spice. Official content only? Boring. If the options don’t thrill you, I’ll happily Frankenstein something together—just don’t blame me when your sentient spoon familiar develops a god complex. - Safety tools, Session 0s, checklists, and aftercare like a responsible adult. Think of it like emotional seatbelts—we might not crash, but boy howdy, does it feel good knowing they’re there. I make custom maps, plot hooks, and questionable life choices—all professionally presented with a dash of misplaced enthusiasm. So if you’re ready to embrace chaos, tell cool stories, and maybe—remember the plot, let’s roll some dice. Or at least accidentally knock them off the table in dramatic fashion. Game on, you glorious weirdos.

GM Style

My style of DMing is very pc focused narratives. Rule of Cool. Homebrew nonsense. I love doing voices, emotional, or silly roleplay. Crunchy dungeon crawls, and tactical combat. I see the pc's as the main characters in the story, and I'm here to help you explore those nitty gritty things we call emotions. Or Go out in a blaze of glory against seven bugbear assassins. I want everyone to have a great time, and I'm open to learning how to help you, have a great time.

Great session zero! really answered player questions and helped us establish a great place for moving forward into our adventure with comfort, creativity, and just a little bit (the right amount) of chaos :)

Look. I’ve been playing in this dude’s campaigns for five years. That’s longer than most fantasy kingdoms survive. And I’m not talking about your “we meet once every six months to pretend we remember the plot” kind of game. I mean weekly carnage, narrative mayhem, and emotional whiplash served with a side of existential dread and at least one cute eldritch party mascot. I’m an author. I’m a DM. I know the dark arts. Which is exactly why I don’t trust just anyone to run a game while I’m a player. Most people? Clown shoes. Andrew? Warlock-tier. He’s the only one I trust not to turn the entire campaign into a morality play about taxes or a three-hour lore dump disguised as “a vision.” Every session is a fever dream with structure. The plots are tight, the improv is surgical, and the worldbuilding is the kind of thing you’d sell a kidney for (and I have—the 90’s were weird, man.) But don’t let the quality fool you—this man is a MENACE. He will take your backstory, wrap it around your neck like a scarf, and drag you to the butthole of emotional hell with it (and you’ll thank him for it.) If you want a professional DM who brings the heat, the heart, and the kind of humor that makes you laugh mid-tragedy, book him. Just don’t expect to be normal afterward. NOBODY who’s survived his campaign worlds is.

Andrew is an awesome DM. I am a button pusher, I can't help myself but push buttons if they are put in front of me. I want to know what happens. And as a DM, he provides me with a lot of buttons. The best part is that the buttons usually have a bit of lore involved with them, either a random piece that doesn't have to do with the main plot or an important piece to continue the main quest.

I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons with Andrew since 2022, after joining a session of Revenge on Old Bone Hand. From the start, it was clear that Andrew - AKA DMK - is a wildly creative, funny, and well-prepared DM. He has a real talent for letting each character shine in their own unique way. His sessions strike a great balance between awesome roleplaying opportunities and inventive, engaging combat encounters. Andrew has a strong grasp of the rules as written, but he also understands when it's best to bend or break them to keep the game fun and immersive for everyone. Whether you're brand new to D&D or a longtime player, I can't recommend Andrew enough as a DM. He's the kind of storyteller and game-runner who makes every session memorable.

I've been a player in DMKilfoot's campaigns for almost two decades. Literally, I've been a player since the beginning when he started running TTRPGs. He's grown a lot as a DM in that time and has come to master his craft. He's inclusive, considerate, and really cares about his players having a fun time. Admittedly, I may be a little biased as I am a relative. However, when I think about those first campaigns he ran compared to the ones he does now, there is a marked improvement. I mean, he's always wanted his players to have fun and an input on the world of the game, but he is a more nuanced and responsive DM now than he was when he first started out. When I came out as Ace, he was quick to adapt and make sure the game felt safe and inclusive for me while allowing other players to have their fun too. Then, when it comes to possible triggers, he's always respectful, does after game check-ins, and provides outs for his players (plus windows and veils [or traffic light system, whatever classification you use] questionnaires as part of session 0). DMKilfoot is friendly for beginning players but works great with experienced ones too (I mean, he puts up with my rules lawyer so ;P). He sets the mood of the story through his storytelling and voices, and he builds some fun worlds that his players have plenty of input on too. He knows the rules but will defer to the Rule of Cool because (at the end of the day) he wants his players to have fun and feel safe.

DMKilfoot got me into D&D in 2016. He was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful as I learned the ins and out of everything. He always answers questions without making you feel "less than" even if it's for the 100th time. 10/10 would recommend especially if you're newer to D&D.
