About Ashr B

I’ve been rolling dice and telling stories since 2015, and for the past seven years I’ve been running games as a Dungeon Master. My table experience spans across Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu, so whether you’re looking for high fantasy heroics, grim cosmic horror, or gritty modern investigations, I’ve got you covered. I love helping players bring their characters to life and weaving their backstories into the larger narrative. Whether you’re brand new to TTRPGs or a veteran adventurer, my goal is to make sure everyone at the table feels included and has fun.

I became a GM because

I became a GM because I wanted to tell stories. I wanted to build worlds full of mysteries and then watch my friends puzzle them out, putting the pieces together in ways I never expected.

My favorite system of all Time is

Right now, my favorite system is Delta Green. I’ve found the real-world setting makes it an easier entry point for new players, and I love the mix of mystery and tension it brings to the table. But if we’re talking all-time favorite, it has to be Dungeons & Dragons 5e.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working on my various art projects or spending time with my cats.

How Ashr B runs games

When I run games, I put the focus on roleplay and atmosphere. I enjoy creating spaces where characters can grow, make difficult choices, and uncover the deeper mysteries of the world around them. Most of my campaigns lean toward horror or mystery, where combat isn’t the centerpiece, it’s the last resort. That makes every battle more meaningful and impactful when it does happen.

I deal with rules issues by...

I handle rules issues by talking them through with the player. I start by asking what their goal is, then we figure out how the rules support it. The focus is always on making the cool idea happen first, and finding the mechanics that fit after.

My favorite trope is...

One of my favorite tropes in stories is the well-meaning fool: a character completely in their own world, living life on their own terms, often getting in the way of others without realizing (or caring). They can show up as an ally one day and a thorn in the side the next.

Rules are...

Rules are a framework and a reference when needed, but they shouldn’t get in the way of a good story. They provide clear answers, but they can’t cover every situation. At my table, I care more about the cool ideas players come up with than sticking strictly to what’s written in the book.

Ashr B's ideal table

My ideal table is made up of players who are excited to collaborate on storytelling—not just following their own character’s arc, but actively engaging with and supporting everyone else’s stories, too. I love mixing tones at the table. I’ll make dumb jokes right alongside my players, because I believe humor adds balance—light moments make the drama and horror hit even harder when they arrive. My tables are LGBTQ+ friendly and welcoming to everyone. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where people can freely express themselves. For me, the best games come from a group that cares about one another as creatives working together to build something memorable.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player builds on another player’s roleplay, adding depth to the scene and supporting each other’s actions. I also love when players take risks, it makes the story unpredictable and exciting for everyone at the table.”
